Jaworski course for winter= great time.
Course is challenging. For an average golfer it will certainly test you. Had a blast.
Tight fairways, challenging greens
This course was built more for accuracy than distance so you don’t need to be able to drive 250+ to perform well here. Fairways are kinda tight with a lot of water in play yet somewhat forgiving. Greens however are fast and tricky, just because you’re on in regulation doesn’t necessarily guarantee par. Can’t just hit the center of greens here, these greens will chew you up. Course was in great shape especially for the off season. Range, putting and chipping greens conveniently located with pro shop, bar /restaurant as well as banquet facilities. Overall, a quality, challenging course for any skill level with all the amenities you can ask for. Definitely be back!
Pretty bad experience
From tee box 2 we were held back 2 groups. Pace of play is absolutely abysmal. Getting very tired of having 5+ hour rounds. Seems like the norm around here.. tee times need spread out!!
Decent for a C Level course
If Tournament courses rate mostly A...and private country clubs are A- down to B-; then most public courses get no more than a C level.
Valley Brook is a passable course in that it has some elevation and fairway challenges. There's is some variety.
It's fairly priced; I went out for less than $35 (winter rate). They have a driving range, chipping area, and practice putting green. That's a plus.
some holes make you work
there are a few holes that make you work hard for bogey unless you are a long hitter of the ball enjoyable course to play.
1 round in 2023
Good course conditions for 1/12/23 - the greens were ok but I had four 3putts -- maybe it was me. Pace of play was good - made it to the 19th hole in less than four hours. Golfing in NJ in mid-January is always a good thing.
Good time
The course was in great shape and the pro shop was awesome. My only suggestion is that you do a better job potty training the geese.
Extremely slow
A frost delay of 20 minutes was not what I was expecting when the overnight temps were over 40 degrees. So when I arrived for my 11:54 tee time 15 minutes early, I was surprised that the starting times were at least twenty minutes behind. Finally got off close to 12:15 and every hole was backed up. It took 4 1/2 hours to play 18 holes. Outside of the ground still being frozen after the first 1/4”, making it hard to place your tee, the course was in excellent shape.
