About
Green Knoll Golf Course in Bridgewater Township has a varied terrain that provides a unique character to the course. The course sprawls across gently rolling hills dappled with mature trees. Much of the course's challenges are a result of the tricky contours. Some of the elevation changes are dramatic but there are also some subtle ones, which can be just as tricky. Further accuracy is required to maneuver the tight fairways. There are definitely challenges in store throughout but overall the golf course's playability appeals to all skill levels, from novices to avid golfers. It measures a manageable 6,443 yards from the back tees. In addition to the 18-hole course, there is also a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course. Green Knoll is one of five golf courses operated by the Somerset County Park Commission.

After nine holes
I teed off 220 as a single with a cart played 9 holes quickly. Very few people out there. As a single I was expecting to run into people eventually however. Upon approaching the 10th Tee Box the starter informed me that they let a school off the back nine and also a school off the front night. Tournament play. Had I have been told this before I booked my time I never would have went. The starter said when the school show up there's nothing he can do about it. Somerset County golf courses are ran horribly. There's only one course in the county that's worth going to that is maintained and ran well. I'm not going to mention what it is but it's definitely not Neshanic.
Old stomping grounds
Golf was decent today although the wind kicked up and made some holes more difficult than usual. There was some slow play out there so we skipped a hole to get ahead of the snails. Greens, Fairways, and Tees were all in good condition today but the falling leaves this time of year made some balls harder to find than usual. Green Knoll has always been a comfortable shoe for me and I always enjoy.
Too many hackers at this golf course.
If you are a single-digit handicap stay away from this golf course. Way too many hackers. First hole took me approximately 27 minutes to play. Hit my drive straight down the Fairway. Left with 87 yards to the hole. Second shot on the green 3 feet away from the pin. I'm telling you I waited 27 minutes for the other 3 just to get to the hole. The Rangers did not come out to see what the holdup was nothing. So if you like to play that kind of pace, this is the coures for you P.S. way too many bugs over there they would never see me again. 3 hours later I left after the ninth hole cannot take it no more.
Bugs, Bugs, Bugs
I am a novice golfer but this course was beat up. The gnats were terrible as the course is surrounded by creeks. Just like playing on open farmland. No challenges, bridges held up by plywood, just an ugly course.
Good enough
"it is what it is" - not the greatest course in the world but it is challenging enough- conditions are usually good and the staff and other golfers there tend to be nice people
Great Experience
Course is nice and clean. Will definitely go back again. One thing I noticed no ranger driving around to check on slow players. Not the ones we followed but the ones following us where we went easily ahead of them by 3 holes. Just felt sorry for the players behind them.
a high five!
We had heard this was a nice course, so we played it on Thurs. and we are glad we did. We are seniors, so the blue tees were ideal for us. For some reason, I think I hit my 5 iron to the green on 6 holes. The greens held nicely, and putts rolled true. Their staff is excellent. Only one suggestion, -- On #18, you have no idea where the green is located, so you play a blind shot. Maybe a marker should be put up to line up your 2nd shot.
great course
Need marshals on the course to speed up play
Day was great other than that the 4 some in front of me were taking multiple extra tee shots and instructions were given to one of the players on every shot including physically assisting him line up the clubs etc.
Great course otherwise
mixed reviews
read the mixed reviews but found this course really enjoyable. great mix of holes and used every club in my bag. Will play again and highly recommend.
Great course for average golfer
Played from gold tees (tips). First 4 holes very wide open, kind of lull you to sleep. It gets a bit more challenging afterward. Most holes are very reasonable distance, not short, but not excessively long. Precise accuracy not required. Miss the fairway a bit and you're usually OK. Not many hazards, but they are well-placed. Greens were excellent.
Somewhat Challenging around Greens
This was my first time playing in Green Knoll, and the course conditions were very similar to Quail Brook and Spooky Brook. I personally like Quail Brook (Difficulties - Moderate) the most, and Spook Brook (Difficulties - Easy), followed by Green Knoll (Difficulties - Challenging around greens, especially bunkers). Staff were very friendly.
No Flair or water but Nice course
Nice course, Most fairways wide open but some holes very tight. First time playing course. Rough was just the right length so wasn't hard to find your ball. Ground and greens very Hard, had to play short. I was glad I was talking to one of the locals that just got off the course and gave me that advice. Clubhouse used for checking in and Bathrooms, had some tables that did not look used. Saw some beautiful deer including a 4 pt. Buck.
pleasant surprise
First 4 holes kind of lull you, but then the fun begins. Very pleasant.
Great course - great calue
Not overly difficult yet still challenging. This course is forgiving on most holes for wide shots if you don't keep it down the middle, as I don't always. The water on 6 is fun. I'll definitely be back soon...
Overrated
My son and I have played over 60 of NJ courses. First time playing this course on a beautiful day. I was somewhat disappointed in difficultly/layout of course after reading some of the other reviews. Course greens were good (large) and rather flat overall. Overall condition of course good too but the challenge was lacking. Traps and water few and far between. If you can't drive straight, play here. NO beverage cart and food stand. Last time we play here.
Solid local course
Solid local muni and has a great value. Pace was 4hrs 45min for my group and the local that joined my group said its a tad slower than normal. My only qualm would have been on the pace, other than that its a solid course that is only 1hr from the city.
