Green Knoll Golf Course
About
Green Knoll Golf Course in Bridgewater Township has a varied terrain that provides a unique character to the course. The course sprawls across gently rolling hills dappled with mature trees. Much of the course's challenges are a result of the tricky contours. Some of the elevation changes are dramatic but there are also some subtle ones, which can be just as tricky. Further accuracy is required to maneuver the tight fairways. There are definitely challenges in store throughout but overall the golf course's playability appeals to all skill levels, from novices to avid golfers. It measures a manageable 6,443 yards from the back tees. In addition to the 18-hole course, there is also a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course. Green Knoll is one of five golf courses operated by the Somerset County Park Commission.

Somewhat Challenging around Greens
This was my first time playing in Green Knoll, and the course conditions were very similar to Quail Brook and Spooky Brook. I personally like Quail Brook (Difficulties - Moderate) the most, and Spook Brook (Difficulties - Easy), followed by Green Knoll (Difficulties - Challenging around greens, especially bunkers). Staff were very friendly.
No Flair or water but Nice course
Nice course, Most fairways wide open but some holes very tight. First time playing course. Rough was just the right length so wasn't hard to find your ball. Ground and greens very Hard, had to play short. I was glad I was talking to one of the locals that just got off the course and gave me that advice. Clubhouse used for checking in and Bathrooms, had some tables that did not look used. Saw some beautiful deer including a 4 pt. Buck.
pleasant surprise
First 4 holes kind of lull you, but then the fun begins. Very pleasant.
Great course - great calue
Not overly difficult yet still challenging. This course is forgiving on most holes for wide shots if you don't keep it down the middle, as I don't always. The water on 6 is fun. I'll definitely be back soon...
Overrated
My son and I have played over 60 of NJ courses. First time playing this course on a beautiful day. I was somewhat disappointed in difficultly/layout of course after reading some of the other reviews. Course greens were good (large) and rather flat overall. Overall condition of course good too but the challenge was lacking. Traps and water few and far between. If you can't drive straight, play here. NO beverage cart and food stand. Last time we play here.
Solid local course
Solid local muni and has a great value. Pace was 4hrs 45min for my group and the local that joined my group said its a tad slower than normal. My only qualm would have been on the pace, other than that its a solid course that is only 1hr from the city.
Can't wait to play it again!
Course was in great shape. Greens were perfect. Pace of play was very good for a weekend in Somerset county. Very funny experience on hole #17 when we got chased by a hissing goose that thought he owned the tee box.
First Time Playing here
10/10 would play here again. I played here yesterday. It was a good round and considering it was somewhat windy.
Green Knoll
First time ever at Green Knoll. Excellent course conditions. Greens were rolling nicely. Would definitely go back again.
Same ol green knoll
Played this course alot when I was learning the game. I still enjoy a round there once in awhile but beware playing there on the weekends. You'll be looking at a 6 hour round on a busy day.
First time here
First timer at Green Knoll and was pleasantly surprised. First time out this year, and a double bogey shooter. This course is nice and wide with very little brush to lose stray balls. It does have trees and waterways that can be a bit of an issue for the average (or worse) golfer.
A nicer course than you'll find for a cheaper day out. Friendly staff, no rushing even on a gorgeous Sunday. I was able to book a time the morning of 3 hours in advance, show up a little later than I should have, and played without any issue. 4.5 hrs for us, I'd imagine better golfers could finish in under 4. Some interesting holes and greens to challenge even the better players in the group...
I'll be back to try this one again!
Very enjoyable round
course ion fine shape with 2 exceptions bunkers need new sand in places and front nice had been airated two or three weeks back and a bit bumpy. Back nine greens excellent and nice layout and some elevated greens made for great day. Some fun holes. Only 1 portable john on 16. Water 1.00 per bottle. Pace of play fine. Will come back.
Windy Day made it tough
This is a very nice course to play because it is pretty wide open and forgiving. However when it's windy that wide open play means really strong gusts all over. Also the greens had not yet recovered from being airated so putting was tough. No girl at the snack bar which meant only snacks at check in. So it was slowwwww going. But I had a nice relaxing round. and shot ok in the early season.
Best for all year play.
The only thing wrong with the course was that the greens seemed to be aerated a few weeks ago and haven't grown back. Minimum goose droppings. Great fairways.
Nice course
Caught it on a week day with less crowd, nicely maintained course, greens were aerated but overall nice to play and would be a challenging course with the slopes on most fairways
Solid Course
Not too hefty of a price for some quality holes. Course and greens were in pretty good condition. Only negative was lack of signage. On a couple of occasions, almost played the wrong hole. On a positive note, deer are friendly and seemingly part of the course.
Good stuff
the only complaint I have is that they want you to pay 1$ for a water bottle at certain holes....bring your own water, otherwise the layout of the course is wondeeful, the greens are challenging and fun.
Great Layout
The course has significant contours compared to others in NJ. The conditions were exceptional and the greens true.
