Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

It works.
It works if you are near the shore. Grass is well kept except for random spots every hole for repair. Greens are horrible and bounce on putts. Old carts and no amenities (water, ball cleaners, hole distance are hard to find)

Good course, but needs help
I can already imagine when this course was at its prime. This course has all the things needed in order to succeed and be viewed as an amazing course. The layout is one of the best I’ve seen that uses the small stream going through the course to its advantage.
The problem is that the course is not in good condition. Because of the stream going through it and neglect from the owners, the course is half grass and half mud, and the mud is deep to the point you can lose a shoe.

Quick round poor condition
Round was about 3 hours but the greens were questionable and the fairways were really wet and bumpy

Work Needed
This course has so much potential it is sad to see what's being done to it. The course layout is very nice and if kept up with the place could be amazing. The "fairways" are like my front lawn after getting cut and although the greens are much better than last I played they are still iffy. I can tell they have invested a little more effort in making the place better since last Summer. The carts at this place are MISERABLE though, they will die on you or get jerky to where you would be faster walking. I truly wish the best for this place and want them to give the A.W Tillinghast design the respect it deserves. As for now though the idea to charge $40 for a tee time seems a bit of a stretch and God bless you if you pay more than that.

The course was in poor shape
While the course layout is good, the course itself is in need of a substantial, amount of work. Greens were just aerated so that made putting difficult. The grass on fairways and tees were uncut. Traps hadn't been raked. Further there were no rakes in the traps for players to rake. Perhaps it's just early in the season.

3 carts and 5 hours later - will never return
Hole 1 cart battery died. 2nd cart battery died on hole 8 and 3rd cart battery died which lead my foursome to walk on the back 9. We weren’t the only group ditching dead carts. The pace of play was incredibly slow as people were hauling their bags across the course. The fairways and greens looked well walked on as your ball never had a good lie anyway. Give this course a while to hopefully charge their batteries and refresh their fairways before returning.
