Old Orchard Country Club
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2025.
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Another try
Tried playing it again. The greens and fairways where better .. but the pace of play was terrible. 5 hours for a 3some .. Not Good
slow play
hot day, no water on course, after 7 holes play slowed down.
A Course in Need of TLC
This course and I go back about 40 years now and it's infrastructure is still the same as when I first played here. I mean the owner hasn't taken care of things like bridges, bulkheads, retaining walls and there are still some drainage issues. Having said that, the actual playing areas such as fairways and greens are kept in surprisingly good condition as compared to the above mentioned issues. As an example of the kind of golfing challenge you'll face here, the seventh hole is a nice par five island green which usually requires an approach layup. There's a 200 plus yard par three and some interesting doglegs to deal with as well. To sum up; it's worth a play, just mind where you walk when out of your cart.
Always a pleasure
Great day to play pace was very good greens are great shape,
Nice laid back course
Very nice, friendly staff. We got there alittle early and they even offered to let us start earlier than our tee time. Nice variety in course landscape without being overly challenging. We will definitely play there again.
Fun day, fun place
I play here fairly often, mainly through golf now deals. For the people complaining about the course condition, they are being snobby. It is a beautiful course with some spots that need some repair, but overall greens are well kept, and the fairways well groomed. The rough is definitely hairy, so if you cant hit consistent fairways this course is extremely challenging. I am a 20 handicap and had a blast here.
For early June, the course is in good, if not great shape
TLC needed
This is a pretty course in need of some TLC.Overall course maintenance was poor. The sand traps were full of weeds with grass a foot tall surrounding all of them.Yardage markers were few and far between. A dog belonging to the course came charging and barking at a player in our foursome. Our experience could have been so much better if course maintenance was up to par.
Lush green's and good pace of play
Lush green's and good pace of play
We will be back real soon
Sad
As a course I have played many times in the past it was sad to see the condition it was in. I wouldn't play here again for free. I will spread the word to alert my friends the deplorable conditions.
Not worth your time
Not maintained at all , very poor shape .. feels like they are just collecting green fees ..
Never play. It again
Course is not being maintained- traps were awful, rough was really long. However, interesting layout and you can just walk up and play. That convenience is worth a lot
Great lush greens
Well it finely stopped raining
Course is getting real lush and shaping up real nice
Management is doing a good job getting up and ready for the upcoming Holiday
Keep up the good work
Fun play at Old Orchard
this course has a great layout and always makes playing here interesting. Improvement to sand traps is encouraging.
Course design is good. Traps look like they had not been raked in daysm
Always fun to play a Tillinghast design. It’s a shame the course can’t be maintained better but it’s fine for the value. $19 with cart for 18; can’t beat it
