Old Orchard Country Club

About
Opened in 1929, Old Orchard Country Club has a classic design with challenges that stand up to modern golf courses. Throughout the course, you'll see traces of the site's former use as a farm. Ancient apple trees from the original orchard frame many of the holes. The diverse layout will test you with a variety of different shots but the gently rolling terrain makes for an easy walk. Skill and strategy will be generously rewarded but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. Old Orchard's greens play true and fast and they are often flanked with strategically positioned bunkers. A stream wanders through the golf course, coming into play on several holes. Golfers will face a tricky island green on the par-5 seventh hole as well as an almost-island green on the par-4 13th.

Great little course
This is a great little course, close by and very accommodating. The staff is great and the course is sufficiently challenging.
I mean it doesn’t get much worse
To be honest, I left after 8 holes. You couldn’t pay me to golf here. It was actually the most stressful round of golf in my entire life. The fact they even have the nerve to charge people is insane. This is by far the worst course in jersey maybe in North America. You can strip one 270 down the fairway and you won’t find your ball because it’s in a patch of dandelions. This course is actually so bad I almost cried driving through it. Safe to say never show up here. You are better off in the middle of the woods hitting a 60 degree.
Could be the worst course of all time
I’ve seen better courses in downtown Baghdad. The course is like the house with the old people who mow the lawn only when their son Charlie is in town 2 weekends a summer. The Tee box is something you’d find after a 2 year zombie apocalypse, the fairway is the rough and the rough is high grass. The greens look like a patchy beard and even with the best read and putt you’re missing the hole by 9 feet. Honestly, turn it into a farm or a camp ground and charge $75 a night per camper and you’d have to make no changes to the land. Horrible. I’d rather have another kid than play here again.
Golfers are fortunate to still have courses like Old Orchard open to the public. Be careful of criticizing public courses that are still open or the next time you go to play you’ll find a bunch of condos.
Course was in horrible condition. Couldn’t tell the fairways from the rough and it didn’t look like the greens have been cut in over a month. Definitely not worth the price.
Garbage
Fairways are not existent, the whole course is basically roughs. Waterlogged greens… has to pull balls out of cups filled with water. Hard packed bunkers full of weeds. One hole had sprinklers blasting on the green, couldn’t even play it off i wanted to. INSANE that they charge $70 for a round. They would have to pay me to go back
Worst course ever
There is not a difference between the fairway and the rough. Our cart died in the middle of the round. I had better conditions if I took a net and wanted to hit balls in my yard
Terrible course
Honestly one of the worst golf courses i have ever seen in my life. All the grass was not cut including on greens. There was no fairway and when you hit it straight you would lose your ball. Its was extremely unenjoyable and should be free.
Stay away
Stay away. This place is one of the biggest rip offs I have ever had golfing. I gave it the benefit of the doubt the first time but it was even worse this time. The so called fairways are thick roughs where you have to be over your ball just to see it in between all of the dandelions. The roughs haven’t been mowed since last year it feels like. The greens are what fairways should be. The only good thing about this course is you get to see some deer while playing.
Worst course in jersey by far
Save your money. Course is almost unplayable. It should be free to play
WORST COURE IVER EVER PLAYED
THIS IS QUITE LITERALLY THE WORST COURSE IVE EVER PLAYED DO BOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND COME HERE. The fairways are rough and the greens are horrible you r better off not folding for the day or playing literally anywhere else. Please youse this info and do not come here wow.
DO NOT PLAY HERE
Been playing here for years. The conditions seemed to get worse every year. I will never play here again. The course is not taken care of. I lost 8 balls that landed in the fairway. The fairway would be a rough on any course. The greens would be closer to the fairway and the rough would be out of bounds. This is the worse course I ever played by far
Awful conditions
Second worst course I’ve ever played on. Totally neglected, they don’t even try. I once took a drop, went to go grab a club and couldn’t find my ball bc the rough was so high. This place should be condemned….. do not play here…..
Unkempt course.
Shaggy greens with bare spots. Tee boxes had 3-4 inches of grass. Overgrown fairways to the point you have trouble finding the ball on well hit tee shots. If you hit it in the rough good luck finding your ball if you don’t know EXACTLY where it went. Bunkers were like beach sand.
Wouldnt recommend.
Worst Course in NJ
Some people say it’s the best bang for your buck $20 to walk can’t beat it. You can beat it
Old orchard
Sadly, this course is in terrible shape. As I grew up in this town and not played it in 20+ years, it has gone downhill dramatically. Balls were lost IN the fairway due to high grass. I’m sure the few grounds keepers are trying, but they cant keep up. The main building has been closed for years and the musty smell is apparent. It’s just sad.
Don’t play here
Hurry up and get here if you want to play this course, because this place has to be going out of business. Nothing was mowed and greens were horrible, don’t waste your time and money
