Beautiful course
I thoroughly enjoyed my 18 holes at Suneagles golf course. A little confusing finding check in but it was my first time. Others had difficulty too. It’s totally around the back of the building. Course of play was fine even with a golf outing going on. I would recommend this course..
Tee boxes were terrible
The tee boxes were all in terrible shape and overgrown. Also they were cutting the lawn at 10:30 in the afternoon, so less than half the fairways I played were cut to the correct level. The rest of the fairways I played were way too long.
Overall good course.
Course has come a long way. Much better than last season and nice layout. Will be back and recommend to any others looking for a good round
A once great course has been neglected
The fairways and tee boxes were a mess. The grass on some of the tee boxes was like the rough on most courses. The greens were very slow and bumpy. Clearly not worth $75. We heard that a new owner is investing heavily in the ocurse, but we saw no evidence of that.
COULD Be a Classic
I hadn’t played this great old A.W. Tillinghast layout, in many years, and was looking forward to it. The layout is still wonderful, with several challenging holes of varying lengths. Small, well bunkered greens are the rule, and are to be expected on a Tillinghast course. Unfortunately, the conditions are not great. Scruffy tee boxes and fairways detract from the great layout. The greens are very, very slow. The staff are friendly and helpful . All in all, if they fix the condition issues, they will have a first class facility.
On it's way back
They are putting in a lot of work to restore this classic course to it's former glory. It most likely needs a few more years time to get it where it needs to be, but as long as ownership continues to work on it the reward will be more than worth it.
Worth the Price
Some fairways were a bit beat up but overall course in pretty good shape. Pace of play was very good, went out as a twosome and finished in just under 4 hours. Certainly worth the price of a hot deal.
Much improved from a year ago
Greens were in great shape, except for the two new greens on the back. Easy walking course, and designed to challenge approach shots with some well placed bunkers around greens.
$84 with range balls is too much for a course in this condition. Greens were very slow. Fairways were soft and missing grass in a lot of places. Only saw the refreshment cart on the 2nd & 16th holes. My biggest problem was stopping at the Tavern at the turn. Ran in for 2 beers and none of the staff in the kitchen area or the bartender were wearing masks. The man at the counter that collects the greens fees does so through a window with a mask on but the people preparing your food and beverages are not concerned with your safety.
1st time & we'll be back
Cart path only this day, our first time here. As seems to be the standard with NJ shore courses, negative reviews for "course conditions" are more to do with players not fixing ball marks on the greens and not replacing divots in the fairways versus overall maintenance of the facility. I do believe there should be soil/fertilizer/seed on every cart to assist with this issue.
Side story...there was a maimed baby fox roaming the course which the beverage cart girl had said she saw hobbling around for a few days since "the mom was hit by a car". I called the Monmouth SPCA & they arrived in 30 minutes. Why no one on staff reached out prior is a wonder.
Great golf day
The course looks great now, they have put a lot of work into it. It’s a lot dryer on those wet fairways. Give them a try
Still needs work
Course conditions are average at BEST, greens are poor and a couple of them are terrible(#15), Staff was great but the pace of play was poor.
Greens
Greens are in need of some help. Very bouncy and some holes are
Patchy.
