Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Valleyview/Lakeview Course
About
The Valleyview nine is the most difficult course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, which is located in northwest New Jersey approximately one hour from New York City. Small greens, tree-lined fairways, hilly terrain and out of bounds on seven of nine holes are among the reasons the Valleyview nine is a test. The Byron Phoebus design opened in 1979.

farmstead
course is really good! would give 5 stars but greens are inconsistent and always slow!!!!!!!!!!! use a heavy putter or put some lead tape on it -2 pieces before u play!!!!! great deal with golfnow! $$$$$
I very nice course
I like the country like feel to the course. Most of the time you can find your ball if you leave the fairway. Water comes into play on several holes. There are two holes on the back 9 of the club 9 where there is a finger of water that protrudes into the fairway that if you haven’t played the course before you wouldn’t know it’s there so be careful. I thought that most of the par 3’s were too long but I loved the wide fairways. In general the conditions were good the fairways were in good shape. The were quite slow and bumpy, they could use a good cut and should be rolled. Overall a fine day on a very nice course.
Golfer friendly course
Played yesterday. I enjoyed playing this course because it is a friendly challenging course for every type of golfer and always in really good shape for as much play it gets.. I recommend you play this really enjoy it !
Fun day out
Had a great day out. Was teamed up with a couple who made the day even more pleasant. Course was in good condition and as always, we well maintained.

as always the course was in great shape...course was challenging but forgiving.
Great Time
Even after morning rain the course was in good condition. They had a lunch special when I played and for 45 dollars I got my round with a cart and lunch.
Same as it ever was.
Dependable as always. Welcomed by Scott. Teed off on time. Course is in very good shape. Played in four and a half hours.
Had a great day in a picturesque setting.

good course real good condition good price only negative slow greens!good pace of play today !!4 hr round!!!!
Nice Day on the Links
I played on a Tuesday morning and arrived a bit early. I was greeted by the State who was quite friendly and helpful. He gave me a few options of where to start. The course was basically all mine. Tee boxes, fairways, and most greens were in decent shape for being early in the season. There were a few that were being repaired but not bad at all.
During play I lost my cell phone. The pro shop staff went out of their way to help me. At first I thought it was a loss, but about an hour or so later I got a call and was informed that one of the staff had found it. What a relief. I would definitely recommend this course and give the staff 2 thumbs up.
farmstead
good coarse good layout good condition!cons no starter!! after paying you have to wait to get a key for the cart!kid behind desk says i'll bring it out in a few minutes! why not give me The key then ??? I HAve to go to the car and get my bag and put on my shoes! so then he tells me a guy im going to play with has a cart outside and to join him! so I find the guy and I tell him im going to take the cart to my car to get my bag! he says ok but I don't have a key! finally someone gives us keys I go get my bag then I go hit some balls in the lake !I come back and the guy is gone with the other 2 guys im suppose to play with!the kid inside tells me they went off on a different nine!! unbelievable!!!!!when the girl is there carrie theres no problems! ok the small flags on the pin that tell hole locations is usually wrong if there is one on the pin to start with !either the person who cuts the hole is lazy or doesn't care I don't know!!!!!!!
Nice place, no crowds today
This place is very nice, but is usually somewhat expensive to ride and ALWAYS slow (5 hrs+).. Today, we started on the ValleyView course, which is much more challenging, but is slightly less good condition (greens, especially). The 2 of us flew thru there, then played LakeView, and were done in slightly less than 3 hrs.
Great shape
The course was in beautiful shape. Greens rolling a little slow. They are true though. I would recommend anybody into golf to play the course. A great course for a new golfer to start on. Valley 9 is a good place for that.
Excellent Golf Course
The fairways and greens were in better than fair condition for April very green and plush. Plenty of attention to details, Sand traps were excellent condition, Club House fully stocked with gear, shirts, balls etc. Bar and restaurant clean and beautiful, very old inside steeped in history. Mulch carefully installed all around the club house and restaurant area. New golf carts well cared for. Properly hosed off after each player returned the carts. Met the owner afterwards very nice chat, loves to explain the history of the Golf course. Water on the course was clean and moving nicely no geese pop. Beautiful views at almost every turn.
Great early season consotion
For mid April course is in great shape. Every green rolled true and consistent
