Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Valleyview/Lakeview Course
About
The Valleyview nine is the most difficult course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, which is located in northwest New Jersey approximately one hour from New York City. Small greens, tree-lined fairways, hilly terrain and out of bounds on seven of nine holes are among the reasons the Valleyview nine is a test. The Byron Phoebus design opened in 1979.

Scenic course
Scenic course with lots of wildlife. 3 9-hole courses available to play. As a novice golfer, I've played this course with handicapped golfers to your weekend warriors. Challenging for all players. You get to use all your clubs on this course.
Surprised at the poor conditions
Based upon the reviews on Golfnow expected a better facility and course. From uneven teeboxes to spots where it was hard to determine if you were in the fairway or first cut overall condition was not great. The greens were disgraceful, does anybody fix ball marks anymore? In addition, one green was fast next was slow. no consistancy.
8/23 lake club round
Course was in good shape for this late in the season and the rounds it has seen. 30 minute late start was a little discouraging. Pace of play was pretty good at about 4 hours and 30 minutes.
As we were finishing our last few hole there were some Lou's foul mouth kids yelling on the second hole of club course.
Bar is always great after the round with good food and beer. Noelle is a friendly gem at the bar as is the majority of the staff.
Farmstead
Great course for your money, great cinditions a lot of wildlife and staff is really nice. Was late for my tee time but was not a problem, they were going to pair me up with a group since i was playing solo but I requested to be alone and they filled my request. Fun place to play, i like lakeview hiles the best. Enjoy!
course in great condition
fun course have played it before always in good condition
Chilidip2
Tee time was 11:00. Foursome in front of us was a little slow but was such a nice day it didn't matter. Fairways and greens in good shape but like so many other courses I had to fix many ball marks on the greens. Wasn't sure about the bunkers because I didn't visit any but they looked well maintained and raked
Pleasurable day
Course was in fine shape was a very hot day so no one was playing. Ended up playing another 9 holes for 11 dollars more so played all 3 nines in 4 hours recommend this course to everyone not very long but in great shape and highly enjoyable.
Great Price
Played late on a Sunday , pace of play was fine. Some blind shots but pretty open. Greens were very slow and tee boxes had seen a lot of play this summer. Would play again at the Golf now rate.
Great course
Well kept course with a great variety of ways to play. The 3 separate 9 hole courses give you the option of customizing your round.
Course is Nice.
There were too many groups of 4 walkers. Held the pace of play up. They have signs posted everywhere about the pace of play. Just feel if they are going to have so many walkers late in the day then they should not offer so many tee times.
nice course
people helpful course in nice condition play's fair will come back to play again
A Sussex County gem
Farmstead is one of my favorite courses. The course is always in great shape. The only time the pace of play is slow is if there is an outing. The staff is very friendly and helpfulness. Conditions are usually very good to excellent. Food is good, there is a beverage cart that comes around. Overall a good time.
Beautiful Course to Work on Your Game
This is not a hard course, Unless you can't hit them straight. Water comes into play on 13 of the holes. And the rough is really tough to hit out of.
As a result, this is a course that will punish you if you lose focus on your game. While it's true that there are parallel fairways that give you a chance to recover from a slice, the trees and the rough guarantee that recovery is not going to be easy.
But the darn course is so pretty, that you almost don't care. And the price, oh my, the price is just really really sweet.
So I strongly recommend that you go to this course when you want to work on your game.
This is not a hard course, unless you don't hit them straight.
One of the Better Tracks in Sussex County
Other than really slow greens (I guess they are trying to get them firmly established) the course was in great shape.
There are 27 holes, 3 quite different 9's. Two of them end with par 3's over water, but overall a pleasant golf course. It gets a lot of play with many golfers driving from Bergen, Essex, etc counties to play here.
The round took over 5 hours. They desperately needed a ranger out there.
course in great shape, people very healpfull
They need rangers out there. Our four sum played behind a four sum playing from the Tips. They didn't belong there. Waited every shot . After 14 holes and 4hrs 20 min we packed it in and left course
One of best course in north jersey
We have been playing at farmstead for over 5 years, our favorite course to play, play this course more then any other every year.
Also very beautifully landscaped and food is good
A very forgiven course.
Very nice course and facilities. Great course for beginners and intermediates. Very few trees and fairways are wide, so it's ideal area for golfers who sometimes slice or hooks. Lots of water areas and the sand traps were well taken cared for. Actually soft loose sand. Started play around noon and course wasn't crowded. Staff left golfers alone because there were no major back ups. Unfortunately, a lot of geese and their byproducts but that seems to be a problem currently at all courses. Also saw large turtles crossing fairways to get to a different water area.
Great course conditions.
I enjoy playing Farmstead and will continue to go back.
Decent, but not nice
This was an okay course. I was a little disappointed as I was hoping it was going to be nicer from the decent rating on golfnow. The rough was long, not long like challenging long, but long like it was never cut. The fairway wasn't much better. The greens didn't roll too well, a couple were pretty beat up. I did play extremely poorly on the front so maybe I'm a little bitter, plus I got paired up with a guy who was not pleasant, and another guy and his son. It just wasn't that nice. But I guess you get what you pay for. Any green fee over $30 would be wasted. Go play a nicer course.
Great Course!
This course is in good shape. There was some water on the first 3 holes, just because of some rain and no sun to dry it up, but other than that the course was in great shape for the 1st week being open! Greens are well kept and true to lines and speed.
I was paired up with another guy and we finished the round in 3.5 hours. Not bad for a 2-some. There was a 3-some ahead of us that let us play through too. All in all, great day for golf! I'll be back again!
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Just finished another 5 hour round here. Very frustrating!
