Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Valleyview/Lakeview Course
About
The Valleyview nine is the most difficult course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, which is located in northwest New Jersey approximately one hour from New York City. Small greens, tree-lined fairways, hilly terrain and out of bounds on seven of nine holes are among the reasons the Valleyview nine is a test. The Byron Phoebus design opened in 1979.

Farmstead Golf Course
course was in very nice shape greens were a bit slow but overall very nice
Reliable course
Course is kept in good condition. Amenities and staff are nice. Good course for an average player that cares more about being out and playing golf vs. his or her score. Course is not too challenging. Pace of play can be slow (4 1/2 to 5 hours for 18 holes in not uncommon). Tee times are generally available, especially during the week. Look for deals at golfnow.com.
Nice course
Farmstead is a nice place to play . The only issue was that they scheduled an outing on Sunday so play was a little slow and our tee time was pushed back 30 minutes. Other than that it was a nice day in the country.
Great greens
This is nicely laid out course. It's not easy but not difficult. The greens are in beautiful shape, the best I've played this year. It was worth the trip and I look forward to playing the course again.
Excellent value
Farmstead is always in great condition. Excellent value for money compared to nearby courses. 27 holes provide plenty of variety.
May 10, 2014 Review
Decided to play this course after an evening of continuous rain and a special price of $18. Course was in good condition except for several fairways that had casual water from the rain. Greens on Lakes and Valley course are slow and undulated however the Valley course greens are much smaller in area. Blue tees have the par 3's at 200+ yards and 150+ yds from the whites. A few more days for water drainage and the course should be back to excellent condition status.
AWSOME
One of the best courses in New Jersey...hands down!!!
Good course with lots of nature
Course was in great shape. Pace of play was a good pace. Nature all around. Spring conditions were good.
Great country club feel
Conditions were perfect (aside for the dreaded fall wind lol). Tough par 3s and scorable par 5s. Great course.
Good Value
Beautiful setting, course in very good shape. Greens, traps and fairways all well maintained. While not overly long, water and traps and contour make it challenging.
Great greens
Water makes it very challenging. difficult to find ball off of fairway.
it was beautiful
The people were great and staff all said golfnow was a good tool for reduced rates..would play any of their 3 9's again
Always in Great Shape
The Lake/Club combination provides a great variety of holes and is kept in great shape with all the water present on the course. I have been playing there for over 20 years and have never been disappointed by the shape of the course. If you are a big hitter try the blue tees - and bring some extra golf balls! Only compliant is that the greens are little slower than my liking, but very playable. One of my favorites in the area.
Great deal on Golfnow!
Got a hot deal and made the drive from central NJ to Sussex County. What a fantastic day of golf. Interesting layout and in great shape. Helpful staff and decent pace of play.
