Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Clubview/Valleyview Course
About
The Clubview nine, which opened in 1963, is the original course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, located in northwest New Jersey, approximately one hour from New York City. Offering a traditional mix of par 3s, par 4s and par 5s, accuracy is key on the Byron Phoebus-designed course. The Clubview nine closes with two very demanding holes, the long par-4 eighth, with an approach shot over water, and the par-3 ninth, which is surrounded by water.

AERATED!!!
Normally a great time a Farmstead.
Hate when a course doesn’t let you know there’s aerated greens.
Course otherwise in good shape.
Staff friendly.
Need a second attendant at the snack shack.
beautiful course in great shape
Great round on Lakeview & Valley courses. Some delays due to an outing but on measure, a wonderful day.
nice place needs improvement
the scenery here is great, I don't know why the starter is always miserable. A group of 2 girls and 2 guys painfully slow backed up the course for a half hour and no ranger in sight. The club 9 was in much better shape than the valley 9
Fall golf
Played on Friday, October 20. And it lasted for hours and 40 minutes. Mainly due to playing with a golfer who never played before. Tried to be helpful but spent most of the time waiting for him to hit or searching for his golf balls. The course itself was in good condition however they were a few tee boxes that were beat up. Greens were recently aerated and sandy.
A rude starter
If you're not a white friend of the starter living in the neighborhood, find another place. There's plenty of friendly golf courses nearby. You can't start your fun golfing time off with a dirty mood.
Manager, please train the starter. I know business is going well these days, You have to think after this time. Starter's attitude is irrational and racist. The same unpleasant experience is second.
Farmstead is greatly improved
I have not played Farmstead in at least 15 years and was very happy with the quality of play. The course is well maintained and the bunkers were excellent - they were problematic years ago when I played here. Greens were recently aerated and were bumpy and a bit slower. Some tee boxes were a bit ragged and there was some water damage on a couple of fairways. Overall an enjoyable round. Farmstead is back on my list of courses to play.
Review
Beautiful and well spaced golf course. Somewhat challenging with a ton of bunkers and water. Only downfall was the pace of play with the players in front of us who took 5 practice swings before every shot. We were held back for about an hour waiting for them to play, poorly.
Great Course
It was my first time playing this course. I kept seeing all of the reviews and I couldn't resist the price. The course is setup with three nine hole courses which keeps the course moving. I will definitely be coming here more often.
beautiful setting, good track, decent conditions
The location is exceptional - rustic NJ with a ton of land and lakes, hills, and valleys. The course is well maintained and with the exception of too many ball marks that were not repaired (unfortunately typical these days and not really something the course can control) the greens rolled true and had decent speed (not lightning quick but not too slow or fuzzy). We played at 4:30pm and unfortunately the tee times were running 15 minutes late due to a cart shortage - disappointing given the fact that we knew we were pressed for time already. And the first 2-3 holes were backed up but then the pace of play got better as the front 9 went on. Overall a worthwhile experience.
3 Nine Hole Course, Good Condition, Great value
I play here twice a month. Overall, I really enjoy it. 3 Nine Hole course. Lakeview and Clubview are best of the 3 9s. Valley view is a little short and narrow. Also, $30 riding after 4. Cant beat that. Cart attendants are out past noon which is nice. Very friendly staff.
