Farmstead Golf & Country Club - Clubview/Valleyview Course
About
The Clubview nine, which opened in 1963, is the original course at the 27-hole Farmstead Golf & Country Club, located in northwest New Jersey, approximately one hour from New York City. Offering a traditional mix of par 3s, par 4s and par 5s, accuracy is key on the Byron Phoebus-designed course. The Clubview nine closes with two very demanding holes, the long par-4 eighth, with an approach shot over water, and the par-3 ninth, which is surrounded by water.

VALLEYVIEW is a joke and your round should cost half if you have to play that 9
Starter seemed lost and rude. The rest of the staff was very nice from grounds crew and on.
Clubview was beautiful.
Valleyview was horrible and shouldn't be played on, EVER.It's a joke and not real golf.4 par 3's and a 430 par 5 just so its not a par 33.
Sign saying we can't check in till 10 minutes before our tee time is a joke and totally unnecessary. All your doing is creating a line outside.
It was nice to see they were hosting a wedding.
UNREAL NEIGHBORS
The Third, fourth, and fifth hole on the Valleyview Course needed up the whole round for everyone involved. There is a residential home on the 4th hole that played music so incredibly loud you could hear it for 3 holes (including the tees and greens). I will upload 2 videos for golfers to experience what I did. The women’s tees are not taken care of which means they are very hilly with mounds of dirt. No way to get flat lie to stand and hit. The staff is incredibly friendly!!!! That , and the look around the clubhouse area was the best part about the course. If anyone plays make sure you skip the Valleyview 9 and you will be pleased. Ok it only let me upload one video -:(
But you will understand my frustration.
Tee boxes need WORK
I play farmstead a couple times a year and it’s always a nice experience. Unfortunately it seems that maintenance is lacking a bit this year. Tee boxes are in terrible shape. I understand being a little chewed up from the endless amount of hackers that play here, but the grass on the tee boxes is longer than most of the rough and it’s tough to find a flat spot where you can balance yourself for your tee shot. That being said, fairways and greens in solid shape for the most part, and the staff is always very friendly
COVID-19 Unfriendly
A co-worker and I took a Tuesday off from working from home (COVID-19) and booked a round at Farmstead - we were the first group out. The golf pro rolled in 10 minutes before teeoff to open the place up, seemingly rushed and already with an attitude like he’s not supposed to even be there.
We check in, politely ask for separate carts as we don’t live together, and the pro immediately gives us a hard time claiming the governor just passed new COVID-19 guidelines the day before, where people needed to pair up in carts. He even lowered his mask below his chin to argue the point. We were not comfortable with this, but he didn't care as He repeated that separate carts were no longer mandated in NJ. He would, however, let us take out separate carts for an additional $25... It obviously had nothing to do with cart availability, and he had no sympathy whatsoever with regard to the pandemic (I hope he’s able to stay healthy and safe in these times, but I wouldn’t want the bad karma) - it was all about $25.
We had no other choice but to pay the fee for the extra cart. great way to start the round! Farmstead is a nice course, as long as you can stay out of the way of the clerks hired to run it.
