Worth the money
Nearby courses charge twice as much and you can really tell that Lakewood is trying to improve the course. It was in good shape and you can see that improvements are being done, along with the ones that already have been done…that nobody would notice except regular players. It’s a great value.

Overview
We had some problems with drunks playing behind us. And they ruined a very pleasant round.
The ranger on the course came out and helped the situation. But only after we were threatened to a fight.
It's not the course's fault but the slow pace of play contributed to the tension. A foursome that was moving slowly several holes ahead of us was the main problem. The drunks behind us apparently didn't like how slow things were going.
In all, however, the course was in good shape and it has an interesting layout.
I've never had an experience quite like this and I hope never to have one again.

Almost got into a fight
Guys behind us kept hitting up on us even though we had nowhere to go. They were drunk and then tried to pick a fight. If you want drama instead of a score I highly recommend this course. ( we called the cops on the drunks)

Beware of hornets
Hornets nest sitting next to green or hole 2. Nobody even bothered to warn golfers . I got stung by 4 pests . Bad game due to pain and inconvenience

A great historic course
Friendly staff and great pace of play make for a great time on the links. Wish there were some challenging water holes but other than that, the course is a lot of fun to play. Quite a few dog legs.

Unfriendly staff
Booked same day as a mistake as I wanted the following day, what was 2hrs before we are suppose T off. Simple mistake, just wanted to trade to the following day. Called immediately within 3 minutes of realizing I have made a simple mistake while I was still in the app here. They gave me a hard time and denied my refund and are going to charge me a no show fee.
I will never play here now. Morally they are wrong. They have a 24hr no refund policy what is understandable. I was 2hrs from T time and like I said I called immediately.
Staff needs a wake up call on common courtesy not every situation has to be followed by the book.
Great Condition
Enjoyed the course. Great condition, fairways plush, greens in nice condition but a bit slow. Pace of play was great!! Well Done LCC.

Nice Track
After some initial confusion at check in(some Golf Now issue) check in was great nice layout with some challenging pin placements. Food and service at outside bar was outstanding. I will play this course again next time I visit NJ
