Great day
Nice course and in very good condition. Challenging course with a lot of water and sand traps, but the GPS on the golf cart helps to manage your shots. A good size screen with the layout of the hole that you are playing as well as a very accurate distance display. It takes all of the guessing out, especially for the first time player.
Challenging course
This course is challenging. Lots of water hazards large greens some par 5s.
Awesome carts
The carts have gps and tell you each shot distance. The course is also in great shape
Nice course, rough shape
Decent value for a decent course. Needs grooming and could be much nicer.
Fun layout,
Course was in great shape considering the heat wave we’ve had. Some of the bunkers were too wet but only a couple of them. Always enjoy this track.
Bang for the buck
Pros - Great course for an afternoon round at $50 (with a cart). Course has some great holes that allows you to score well, easy par 5s, GPS in carts huge hot dog at the turn for $4, 16oz Yuenglings for $4. Nice bar and pro shop.
Cons - place gets fairly jammed up on busy days, I don't think I've finished a round here in less than 4 and 1/2 hrs. Greens get beat up, they are always very soft so lots of public play means spike marks and unfixed ball marks (FIX YOUR F*CKING BALL MARKS PPL). Overall speed of greens is slow and there are some pretty beat up tee boxes (all expected at public golf mid summer).
Overall review gets 4 stars because the value is SUPERB. Course is fun.
Fun course, needs TLC
As much as I wanted to really give this place 5 stars, this semi-private club just needs some TLC on the greens and fairways. Many ball marks, unfixed divots. Knob hill is beautiful, but unless you’re getting a Hot Deal, i’d rather play at Charleston springs with a county card.
But, Big shout out to the pro shop guy who gave me a free bag of tees. Staff was very friendly!!! Plus the GPS in the cart really helps you pick your shots.
4/5 stars
Good course pace if play good layout good particularly the back
Great course
After a previous review, Knob Hill reached out to me. The were extremely helpful and worked with me. I take back my previous review do to the great manager the course has to offer. Sadly golf now will not allow me to take down the review, but I highly recommend this course to any golfers!!!!
Great course!
The course was in very good shape and pace of play was great, we didn’t wait on any of the holes. Highly recommend this course!
Play time
Although our pace time was ok. We always had to wait to hit and someone was always waiting behind us. Space the tee times out a minute or 2 more! Overall great course
Great greens but not in good shape
Knob Hill is a great layout in my opinion. However, it’s not the best experience - let me explain.
There is no golf range for a semi-private course so there’s no where to warm up. There is a net by the practice green. The practice green speed is pretty close to the actual course greens. However there is a huge hill on one side of the practice green that you’ll never see on the course. Don’t get me wrong, the actual greens have a lot of movement in them in some areas. But not a 5 foot steep drop.
There is a big difference between the blue and white tees in terms of distance. Don’t be fooled by the sub-6000 yard white tees yardage. There’s water on many holes or blind tee shots. This is where the course shines! There is no hole that reminds you of any other hole.
So now the greens... the greens roll true and decent speed. It would be more fun if the greens were faster for this short of a course.
The worst part of this course is the ridiculous amount of divots on the green. My playing partners and I would fix 3-5 divots each per hole. This is not an exaggeration either. There are unfixed divots everywhere. If you want to roll your putt true, you’ll have to fix some divots. It’s almost as if nobody is fixing divots despite the GPS thing in the cart reminds players to.
Overall, good track and worth playing if in the area. Not worth the price unless you’re playing later in the afternoon when it’s less expensive.
