Another sub 4 hour round
Good day today at The Links. The greens are in great shape and rolling very nicely. They also hold your approach shots . Nice action on the chips too. Make sure you take your Gps apps or laser shooter. The course makes you think about most every shot. Wild Turkeys and deer roam the back 9.
Poor conditions and layout
Going from hole to hole is a task in that there's no clear signs about how to proceed, there are several unmarked forks in the path with no direction about what goes where, the "club house" is a trailer, and the greens were in poor condition. Friendly staff, but that's about it.
The more I play this course the more I like it.
I really like the course from the back tees. Most of the 4 pars have you hitting out of a shoot between the pines. The greens are real receptive to your long irons and chipping. Thanks to the staff today to bringing out water to us. 100 degrees.!
Hot
Nice place to play in the heat. Plenty of tree lined fairways to find shade. The course was in good enough shape for an enjoyable day. Play it from the back for the best experience..
Great value
First time playing here. I knew the club house was under renovation. But they had guys making hotdogs and burgers on the grill...not the little frozen ones, but good ones. They were very friendly and made our burgers to our liking. I don’t know why they kept the cash register 60 feet from the grill and the spot where they take ur order, but I’m sure they have a reason. The fact that they had food available during a renovation tells you how important those things are to the consumer.
I love playing here
Fantastic course. I will continue playing here for a long time.
The Links
Have not played this course for more then 5 years. Overall conditions were very good. Green speed was good and the fairways were very good. There are still some bare spots offf of the fairways, but overall I was impressed by the conditions. The club house is being rebuilt so the facilities are limited to a trailer. But don't let that stop you from playing this course.
Vastly Improved
Partnered w/player that hadn't played course for 3 years & rated it "vastly" improved. Greens & fairways in great shape.
Recent demolition of existing clubhouse sets them back for amenities, but drinks available @trailer...liquor if you've signed up for their "social membership".
It’s your ordinary neighborhood golf course
Nothing fantastic, and nothing like ‘once a private club’. Frustrating pace, kids whacking 2-3times from the tee box, dog-walkers walking across fairway, and so on. But the course layout is very pretty, capped by monumental task of par 3’ing #8 over the full water. That was great.
Clubhouse Under Construction
The old clubhouse is demolished and great intentions of a new and improved experience. Staff was welcoming, and they even had an outside food concession set up with hot dogs burgers etc., even breakfast sandeiches cooked to order. New tee markers and the course is in decent shape. Not bad, not great, but good..
Looking forward to a NEW golf experience when all is complete. Thanks to the new owners for investing in making the old course new again!
Course in good shape but pace of play horrible
The Links has been up and down the last few years but seems to be headed in the right direction. Course was in pretty good shape - green rolled well; fairways were nice. The pace of play for this particular round was horrendous for a Monday (non-holiday). I can deal with 4.5+ hour rounds on the weekend but nearly two hours to play 6 holes is absurd. It seemed like a threesome was holding up the entire front 9 but there didn't appear to be any sort of Marshall to keep them moving. Also, keep in mind, they are renovating the clubhouse so services are extremely minimal at the moment. Headed in the right direction but still a ways to go to restore the course to its previous glory.
Links is really improved
Played this course two times in the past and it was very disappointing. New owners are doing a fantastic job on the course. Great shape. Looks like a new clubhouse is being built. Only porta pots for now. Might be a problem for the ladies
Under construction
Lots of work being done. Need yardage marks . Ok for a cheap round in early spring. Will be nice when the work is done
Could be a great course
The course is in fair condition it has a wonderful layout with great shaped holes that offer good challenge to any golfer I found the greens to be excellent they were firm and fast . The fairways were in good condition by and large the cart paths or lack there of were not good and in places the course need work. That being said it was very playable the pace of play was excellent as there were few people on the course. The club house is under repair with little to no food or beverage service only bottled drinks and take away snacks. With a little TLC this could be a great course . I would play it again and for the price it was a good round of golf for golf’s sake but clearly not a great overall experience
Nice Spring Day
Looks like new ownership is trying to improve the conditions and renovate the club house,, that being said hoping they haven't run out of money since there was very little work going on.
The greens were in great shape and rolling fast. The rough and traps need a lot of work. It would be great if they hire a starter to improve pace of play since there were 5 Somes, numerous singles and way too many twosomes that should have been paired up, and with no ranger it made the round much longer than needed
