Links in Marlton
The course needs more attention. Tee boxes and Fairways need to be upgrade and . Sand traps were hard and some filled with water.
Nice course
The layout of this course wraps around a development with lots of trees and some narrow fairways. Was enjoyable round but a couple flooded bunkers and most could use new sand, which they might have been in the processes of doing I saw a pile in parking lot. Only other thing that we had to deal with on an afternoon round was all the deer coming out of the woods! I would definitely play again!
pace of play
We were a twosome we caught up to a foursome at the 7th hole (3 walkers & 1 rider). Although some say twosomes don't have rights, common courtesy should dictate that they let us play through. We waited at every hole.
Maybe it was me.
I am a feel guy. The course just didn't have the good feel that I get most of the time I play. Also , I was late which affected my rhythm and pace of play. I felt rushed the entire round. People rude and did not care hitting up on me or jumping holes. I was single and it wasn't until late in the round a courteous 4 players let me play through. However , more than anything the course was chunky all over the place and you seldom had a decent lye to hit your ball from. Distances are very difficult to determine and layout really doesn't fit my eye. I vary seldom have bad experience playing golf but t h is outing was bad. I will try again next time.
Good deal---good time
I booked a $22/ea. "hot deal" twosome rate for 2:50 pm on a Monday. Fortunately, the July 3 afternoon weather was comfortable with moderate heat and humidity.
Check-in was a breeze.
Very few golfers were on the course due to the July 4th weekend. I suppose many people were at the Jersey shore. Good for us!
Course conditions were average. Several greens were starting to burn. Several fairways had hardpan and/or crabgrass sections but not so bad that ist affected ball play. Pace of play was excellent.
I last played The Links over 10 years ago when it was a private course. I see the condition of the course and clubhouse has diminished since The Links has become a public course. I suppose that is to be expected.
I recommend playing The Links if a good "hot deal" or good regular tee time rate is offered. Other more costly tee times are prohibativefor the value you get. The Links should offer more value tee times daily if it wants to get more players to play the course. A golf course makes absolutely no money on expensive tee times that aren't sold during the short summer season!
Falling apart
Looks like the teeboxes haven't been cut in weeks. Concrete bunkers. Dirt fairways.
Absolutely Horrible!!!!
I am not one that usually even writes reviews, especially when it was a negative experience. However, if I could give ZERO stars I would have. The course is in horrendous shape and has been for years. No wonder there was no one on the course. The fairways were awful, the greens were atrocious, and the tee boxes were laughable. The Owner doesn't care about the employees or staff. They do a horrible job marketing the restaurant and entertainment. I know for a fact that they do not make paying their vendors who work there a priority. Not sure where the money is going because it certainly isn't being put back into the course. The owners are poorly organized and have no clue on how to run a business, let alone a golf course. I DO NOT recommend this course and would not play it again even it was a free round of golf. I would not even give the restaurant a penny because of how poorly the business is handled.
Great deal but so so course
Got this great deal $18/person with cart on a Friday afternoon. Kind of get what you pay for. Course isn't in great shape and most holes are similar in layout. Had fun though. But would go elsewhere first.
Nice layout
I liked the layout but for the price the fairway and greens were not in good shape at all .. definitely btr deals around
Still Thinks It's Private
I happen to live on this course and unfortunately the course owners appear to believe it's still in its private-course condition. I drive by the empty course every day during the week simply because no one is going to pay $35+ for a course that hasn't had a single groundskeeper in years. The layout has plenty of potential but it's just poorly managed with horrible conditions - the price needs to be dropped into the $20 range in order to be worth the cost.
Bad shape
Poor conditions all around. Not a rake on the whole course. Totally neglected.
Very slow day
Trying to figure out what happened here. Why bother having tee times if you send 3 foursomes all out at the same time? It took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Apparently their was a group of guys partying ahead of the 3 guys ahead of us that was very slow . Never saw a course ranger. When one of our foursome went in after 9 the desk guy said he didn't get a call. Very poor course management.
a nice golf course
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the course was in good condition for this time of year. It is a good course that can be fun to walk. A few holes you have to place your ball on the correct side in order to have a shot at the green. It is an overall nice golf course.
Overpriced
Course was not in great shape. Pace of play was wayyyyy too slow. Not even a great layout. Rocks on the greens. Leaves over the greens. Spots on the greens that didn't have anymore grass
Maintenance
Trees had been trimmed but the trimmings were all over the edges of the course. Should have been cleaned up. Some holes had the black and white 150 yard markers and some did not. This was a problem for my group. The round center of fairway yard markers need to be lifted about one inch to make them more visible as you approach your ball to estimate distances to green easier. Greens were just okay. I've played many places that are in better shape this time of year. No rakes in the bunkers, but I've found this elsewhere also. Don't understand it though. No markers on the tee boxes, but I've never seen this anywhere else. The layout of the course was interesting and challenging. I would return at this price, but the course needs some routine maintenance. AND, not specific to just this course, but why aren't courses marked better with more visible yardage markers ?
