Nice course, good value
First time player, very well layed out, tree lined fairways and very well maintained.
watch out for the leaves on the edge, will eat your ball up.
Had a great time.
nice place to play
always enjoy playing Princeton. Conditions are good. Most often we move quickly. Staff is good and friendly. Some quite challenging holes and you have to shape your shots to get into position.
waited on every shot
Course is in great shape but pace of play was not good. We waited for the group in front of us on every shot. They didn't seem to understand how to keep up with the group in front of them (more than one open hole) or to let my four ball group play through. I left after 9 holes and will be more mindful of the tee time i pick to play this course another time.
Fun Course to Play
This is a good course, best if your a Mercer card member or get a good deal on GolfNow. I would say that as municipal courses go, it is on the better end. Course overall is in good shape, especially considering it had rained all morning. A few areas of standing water but for the most part very nice. Pace of play could have been faster, but we were behind a group of older gentlemen and given that it was cart path only due to the weather, it took them a while to get to their balls for each shot, still got out in about 4 hours.
Princeton CC
First time playing this course, staff was friendly and conditions were good. Layout of course was good , sand traps were in good shape speed of play was good. I will be going back!
Princeton Course...ok
The people/facility great...liked the tree lined holes...the fairways ok but really need re-seeding. We
expected Mountainview course fairways..not to be. Good course to work on your driving because of tree lined holes. enjoy...
Too tight for long hitters
Young strong hitters will not enjoy laying up on tree lined fairways and dog-legs. If they go straight then distances are short; only wedges left.
A really enjoyable round of golf
I played this course in the 1960's when it was a "private" facility. Now that Mercer County has taken it over it has been nicely renovated & improved to the point I could remember very few holes. I was paired up with 2 very friendly fellow golfers and had one of the most enjoyable rounds this year. Course is not long, except for a few holes, and in great condition especially since greens were aerated less than 2 weeks previously.
Keep the ball in play and you can record a good score. Trees line most fairways but usually leave and opening for recovery shots. Best value course I've played this year with the discount price.
Hot Day at Princeton
Although a short course ,there are lots of doglegs and greens well guarded with bunkers. Some of the holes have very narrow fairways. The greens were recently air-rated so, they weren't as smooth as usual. The near 90 degree high humidity day didn't help much. However,I played well on the back nine and won my match with my best buddy. The day and the course were very enjoyable.
a nice course to walk with lots of shade
fairly short length, elevated small greens,,,lots of trees along the cart paths and teebox's for shade during mid day heat. next time I go I will probably walk it. overall the round was fairly enjoyable
greens
The greens are very fast and undulating. The course is fairly easy to play.
Miserable Staff
The weather was not ideal (it was raining on and off, though not heavily) so I called about an hour prior to my tee time to make sure the course was open. The man who answered was very rude, at one point asking, "now why wouldn't we be open?" I live about 35 min from the course, and it took a little longer to get there because of the rain. When my group arrived, we were told we were too late and our tee time had been given away, even though I had called to confirm that they were open! We went to the starter after paying and he told us we could tee off if we did right away, and he rushed us through our first tee shots. This seemed unnecessary as the group in front of us was still in the fairway and within driving range of us (I ended up using my 4 iron instead, so I wouldn't hit them).
I am not sure if this is a course where there are mostly regulars who go there, but none of the other workers were friendly with my group either, as we received many dirty looks and short answers if we had a question.
The course itself was nice, and I would definitely return if it weren't for the miserable, nasty people who work there. With so many other nice courses in the area, you're definitely not missing out by skipping Princeton Country Club.
good value
A nice course, play from the back tees to get decent length, the white tees are too short. The back nine is a little wet in spots, but overall the course was in excellent condition
Solid course for Seniors, Beginners, Juniors
Your classic 60s layout, lots of doglegs and small, elevated greens. An easy course for walking due to length and the abundance of tree cover. Conditions are usually a star lower on the back 9 due to it's proneness to being flooded even in moderated rains. Still, solid and enjoyable course for average players if you're in the mood to play hybrids only off the tee. If you're looking for a great day out, try someplace else but if you're just looking to get out no matter what, this is your place.
Very short course
First time playing Princeton. People were very nice, but the course wasn't terribly interesting. It was extremely short. If you're even a moderately long player, you don't need to hit anything more than an iron off the tee of every par 4. Also there were some odd dog legs that require you have a GPS or at least some local course knowledge.
I wasn't a fan, but this would be a really fun course for a short, straight hitter. Also would be great for walking.
Course is nice
Course was fun. First time playing course. Paired with 2 other golfers, and they were about same skill level. I would play this course again.
Absolutely rude and horrendous staff
Terrible staff. We had a lady following us and then approached us on the 7th hole asking "do you guys expect to play all 18 holes". We paid for 18 holes and it wasn't our fault that we waited on the 1st green for 30mins for the sprinklers to stop. On the 18th hole with sunlight left we had a staff member tell us we were done and to just take a par on the last hole. We said we had one hole left and he said nope you took too long. Absolutely rude staff.
Pace of play.
Convenient for us living in Philly. Course in pretty good shape. Pace of play seemed slow. That's what you get playing a muni.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Do not waste your money. First thing first, we were 2 minutes late for our tee time and it was a huge deal, they act as if I was playing at pebble beach of Augusta. 2) the staff is extremely rude especially the Maintainance workers, they cut the grass in front of every tee box and they take forever so you can not tee off. A couple of workers were just sitting in the fairway on their mowers when we were trying to tee off. THIS WAS DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR FROM THEM. 3) course is very easy with a couple of dog legs and some bunkers each hole plays the same driver to a pitching wedge or 9 iron and putting on the green , no fun challenges at all. Finally if you are not apart of their elite group do not go to this course they look at you as if you are an outsider and you feel unwelcomed from the moment you step into the clubhouse. Also the carts sound like lawnmowers and they are extremely loud to drive.
