Not bad
First time playing in NJ as a NJ resident and I chose Ash brook.
They’re undergoing renovations to the clubhouse and (hopefully) the course itself.
The clubhouse looks really great. And looks like it will be even better when all complete.
The course… well the greens were rolled out a few days after being aerated and were still tough to putt on.
Some fairways were swampy in a lot of parts and a lot of tee boxes were uneven and more like dirt patches.
Golf carts were great!
Do not waste you're time or $$.
Horrible. Do not play here. The $ they are using to renovate the new porch should go into the golf course. I arrived to learn they were only playing the front 9 only because they had just aerated the entire back nine. And BTW they also did the front 9 greens. All of which should have been an alert BEFORE I booked, Tee boxes torn to shreds. Fairways were in terrible shape. Patchy grass, large holes where it looked like a car was stuck and spun it's wheels, large dry cracks a real mess and that was 7 of the 9 fairways. Greens were aerated but also patchy with lots of bald spots. It will take years to come back and be playable. I walked off after only playing 9, a waste of a vacation day and the worst conditions I have played this year and that includes Bunker Hill when they were working on drainage. STAY AWAY!!
Back 9 closed due to weather
They closed the back 9 cause it was flooded... Again when you check in they tell you that you have to play the front 9 twice cause the back is closed.
Course and tee boxes were in bad shape.
Awful
Terrible conditions. Wouldn’t recommend whatsoever. Muddy, bumpy greens, standing water everywhere. Not even worth anywhere near the 66 dollar greens fees.
Front 9 was in amazing condition. Back 9 looked like a meteor shower rained down on half the fairways. Probably had to do with the heavy rain weeks prior flooding and damaging the course. The price was fair for the condition the course was in. Definitely would go back again
Back 9 is not maintained
Back nine is damaged due to rain and hot weather. hard to play and not worth the time wading through puddles of water and wet fairways.
Afternoon 9
Only 9 holes open due to rain. Course was in decent shape some soft spots. My only complaint has nothing to do w the facility or is crew. People don't fix their ball marks or replace divots. Do better people.
Hot & Wet
Played on a very hot day, luckily there was a breeze from time to time. There was a thunderstorm in the area a few days earlier. There was only 1 bad fairway 17. My partner’s drive actually landed in casual water on the right side of the fairway and we couldn’t find it.
Pace of play was great on front 9, for some reason the 3some in front of us played slow on the back 9
Recommended the course. We will play again & often.
Course needs work
First time playing here in about 30 years.
Conditions have declined since .
Money for new clubhouse and GPS carts would have been better spent on the golf course itself.
Most of the fairways were in terrible shape due to drainage issues. Many holes on the back nine were cart path only because they were in such bad shape.
Greens were ok but pretty beat up with old ball marks. No indication of maintenance on them.
Bunkers looked good but when hitting out of one there was hard ground under about 1/2 inch of sand.
Wouldn’t recommend playing this course.
Beaten up.
It’s been around 30 years since I played this course.
Back then, I remember it being pretty nice except for the pace of play. Played some very looong rounds here years ago.
It really doesn’t look like the golf course itself has been updated since then.
There is a nice new club house, new carts with GPS, new ball washers, etc, but the course itself is in pretty bad shape.
It has always had drainage issues and after years of ignoring this, it shows, especially on the fairways.
They won’t even let you drive your cart on numerous holes on the back 9 because of this. Most of the fairways have numerous dead areas from standing water.
Greens were beat up too. Most had what appeared to be old ball mark spots that were dried up. Granted, players should repair their balk marks but regular course maintenance should be able to keep the greens in better shape.
Who ever made the decision on where money for this course should be spent, probably doesn’t play golf. If they did, the golf course would have been improved and the club house and carts would have remained unchanged.
Too bad.
Not worth playing here.
Opposite of Bang for your Buck
Played a saturday morning 7am round $90 with cart. Every other tee box was completely chewed up. The fairways could barely be considered fairways. Greens were fine and challenging. The actual building, bar, and pro shop make you feel like its a $90 course. But it is far from it. Wouldnt play there again.
