Dogtrack!
This course is in such bad shape that I'm better off at the high school on their football field. I can't even begin to tell you how awful this course is. Stay away, better off indoors at playing a golf simulator.
The only place there weren't any weeds was on the greens, and the greens had brown patches, hard dirt, and some shaggy grass here and there....Bunkers, ha! No sand to be found. It's a disgrace of a golf course and to top these conditions, the pace of play is absurd. People who don't know how to play golf seem to find this place.
Only allowed to play 9 holes
The golf course front 9 was under maintenance. We could only play the back 9. Nice course with range and clubhouse. Golf now owes me half of the fees charged.
Not worth the money
Tee boxes that look like my backyard, burned out greens with bad patch jobs, bunkers that are like infield dirt with rocks everywhere. Grossly overpriced for the quality of the course, one of the worst I've seen in NJ.
Wost condition
Meh
The only reason I play here is because they always have times so I go here in a pinch. The course is playable but not nice and it way too expensive for what it is. The tee boxes look like rough they have dead high grass all over. Some of the fairways look like garbage. Greens are acceptable. There is never any water in the water coolers or ball cleaners even when it’s 100 degrees. The rangers do absolutely nothing they sit at the first tee and they are rude. Like I said if you need a time it’s playable, but know you’ll pay way too much for a sub par experience.
You can play golf at this course
Angry workers who you'd swear actually owned the course based on their attitudes and much older gentlemen playing who you'd imagine invited golf based on the stupid things the kept saying to everyone but a fairly straight forward course if you can get passed everyone's ego
Unfortunately a bit neglected, could be a gem.
East Orange is convenient to NYC, affordable, and has a fairly interesting layout. It has an on-site restaurant, a driving range (closed on this day), both chipping and putting greens. It's fairly relaxing, walkable, beginner-friendly, but also has a number of strategically-challenging holes.
But unfortunately, this course is not in great shape. Fairways are very inconsistent, bunkers have rocks everywhere, tee boxes are worn down badly and/or have really inconsistent footing. No starter out there to get pace going – just walk up and kinda figure things out. It does pain me to say I would not recommend it, as there are better options in the area. Still, I do see how it can be a satisfying place to get some practice.
Need rangers to keep up pace of play
The golf course is good for true beginners. Because of that, there needs to be a ranger to ensure these beginner golfers, don’t have the etiquette, follow the rules
9 holes should only take 1 hr and 45 mins or 2 hrs max especially on a Friday evening. However took closer to 2.5 hrs to complete
A little work goes a long way.
I have been playing East Orange for a couple of months now. The beginning of the season was great. We had plenty of water and the Greens and fairways were in great shape with some of
The tee boxes in bad shape. But I have to say this last trip out there was very rough. The tee boxes were either filled with weeds or no grass at all the green starting to get burned out, which usually happens at this time, but my main complaint is there is no drinking water on this course, the ball washes have water in there from last year and all this place needs is just a little TLC to make this course much better.
