Course was in horrible condition tee box’s were terrible and the greens were like putting in a bunker and if they didn’t have sand there were weeds everywhere you could even putt correctly.

No upkeep whatsoever
Played here multiple times this year. Earlier this season not that bad at all. Fairways and greens pretty good. Go yesterday not one person mentions that half the greens are dead with weeds growing everywhere another few are completely covered in sand and still make you pay the full price. Just unbelievable how poorly it has been kept and very disappointing no one there would say anything to inform their customers of the poor conditions. Unfortunate because the food at the turn and the restaurant are pretty good.

Awful
Don’t play here. The greens are gone. No grass just dirt and weeds. No joke. If you do go check out the practice green it’s in the same condition.
The course is otherwise ok for what it is.
I’ve been playing for 40+ years and I’ve never seen a course in worse condition. It’ll be months before the greens are playable again.

OMG
Don’t play here. Don’t do it. It should be the perfect place for a newer/average golfer but the conditions were just so bad. I’ve been playing golf for 40 years I’ve never played on such a terrible course.
There is literally no grass in half the greens. And when there was a bit of green it was crab grass. Tees and fairways were not as bad but that doesn’t mean they were good.
The City of East Orange should get out of the golf business. This place is an embarrassment. Saw signed about aeration next week. I thought it was a joke…..why would they even bother, there’s nothing left to aerate, i

The Greens were awful
If I had known the greens were so bad I would not have played here. No one indicated that they were bad even though I should have known considering what the practice green looked like !

What happened to this place?
Absolutely no course management. Started of with the guy in the office who acted as if we were bothering him. No carts, took 15 minutes to get one. The line at the 1st tee had a twosome, 2 threesomes, and a single, and not a starter in sight. The 1st in line was a threesome and they actually had the latest tee time of all the groups. Five greens were covered in sand, not because they were aerated, but because they were so burnt out they decided to cover them up with sand. This is usually a fun round, but yesterday was a bummer. They should close for a couple of weeks and repair the course.

Hmmmmm
Not sure if it's the weather or staffing - but the greens have many more blotches of crab grass, Other than the crab grass on the greens the fairways, sand traps and roughs were fine. The tee boxes can use a little watering too.
Other than that - staffing is always friendly. This day - golfers were friendly too!
Geese are starting to make a comeback. 8-(

Terrible conditions
I get the summer has been rough, but those greens were sand and in some cases weeds. Impossible to putt or have a decent round since even pitching into them was a new experience.
If this had been a 20 dollar round I’d be more inclined to let it go, but at 65…

Cheap but slow. Greens were more sand than grass, but 2022 has been a difficult summer. Good staff.

Course conditions poor.
The recent hot spell was rough on the greens, which were almost totally non-existent. All were burned out and mostly devoid of any grass.. After all the money invested here by East Orange, there is nothing much to show. Pre-drought, the course was decent; now I think it should close for the season and be re-built. Too bad for a decent local muni.

Greens were more like sand traps
The course overall was not in bad condition but the majority of the greens were basically hazards. For the price that we are asked to pay, the greens should be in much better condition. I’ve played here a number of times and this is by far the worst green condition.

Dog Track
Greens are horrible and fairways beat up. 6th hole is full of ground hornets nest holes. I wouldn’t play here again for free! Golf Now take them off your list!!

Front 9 is in disarray
I only played the front 9 for $32 cart included so that’s not absurd but for the condition of the course I would have paid maybe $20, and just used the range. It’s a short course and it’s a hackers course. 1/3 of the Greens are completely covered in sand. I’m not talking top dressing. I’m talking legit sand. About 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick in some areas. Other greens were riddled with crab grass so putting was tough. I don’t think they irrigate cause the course was just beat up. Like taking swings on concrete in some areas. Just needs a lot of work. Pace of play was fine. The club house seems nice from the outside. Inside it leaves a little to be desired. The pro shop shelves are barren so you better show up with everything you need to play. Overall it was not a great experience. I guess I assumed too much since it’s in the short hills area. I did not play the back 9, but it actually looked like a decent golf course after the turn. So if you’re gonna play 9 I guess try and play the back.
