Great value, hidden gem quick 9 holes
I've played dozens of times, going back over 15 years to when it was privately owned and poorly maintained. It has always been a great value to get a quick round in, and I can say I've never had a bad experience.
Since it has become a municipal course, it is now so much more than that. 9 hole full setup with par 5s that challenge with layout instead of distance. Greens are meticulously maintained, and small in size, so hard to hit and land. I'd advise anyone playing the first time aim for the front of the greens. The blue tees are a unique challenge for advanced golfers, not because of overwhelming distance but rather tight windows and tree trouble, well placed sand, and greens that are hard to hold.
Nice Sunday
Stopped here on a Sunday on the way home from the shore. Very friendly staff. Nice and flat. Inconsistent greens but not a difference maker. A lot of tee boxes are near the previous greens which makes it a little dangerous if the group behind you is bad. Great value for your money. I plan to play here again.
Great value for residents of Ocean Twp.
I really like the course but the travel tine and fuel/toll cost makes the process a bit high for 9 Holes.. if you double the cost to play twice, you're now paying for a premium golf course fee. Staff is always nice and players seem friendly too. No food there but there are stores in the area. I buy a sandwich at 7-11.
Try it.
Still a good place
Wish we could play 2x to make 18. Pethaps a 1/2 price 2nd go round.
30 bucks for 9 aint cheap. $60 for 2x way too much. Must factor in fuel cost and tolls to get there. I might buy a place in Ocean Twp.to get the resident rate ;-)
Several tee boxes were in play of the previous hole. Only one had protective netting. Bunkers were very wet and unplayable. Good course for beginners. Relatively inexpensive.
1/2 a great course at 1\2 THE COST.
I really like playing this course . I only wish it were the old go around twice it was. For locals its cheaper.. The fees are reduced and the travel to fuel cost' is much less. My 40 mile r/t cost me 5 gallons of gas at the current sky high prices. So, the trip cost me double the green fee. I even considered moving closer to enjoy it more often. So, you see, it us one of my favorite places. Try it.
Nine hole treat
Better to have played good 9 hole layout than crammed 18 hole course like Forge Pond. Greens very nice, sufficient width to accommodate long ball curves. sufficient length to air out driver and follow up with 3 or 5 wood.
greens
I enjoy playing the course with my friends and it is a great place for new golfers, the only problem is that the greens are way too fast and erratic.
