Preakness Valley Golf Course - East

Nice little course driving range super friendly staff except for bartender inside at the restaurant terrible attitude. Course was in very nice shape super disappointed it was cart paths only for most of the course after 2 weeks of very dry weather was told it's to prevent additional wear and tear which I find funny being the days are shorter the number of players are smaller and it's been dry for over 2 weeks. The layout was fairly simple and straight course conditions were very good leaves are still up in the trees but we're still a small problem finding some drives that were just off the Fairway as is normal this time of year nice practice area putting green Etc I will be back but not when I have to do cart path only five through hole 14 with a knee replacement in the near future I will give this course a solid four star.

Great conditions for a public course. Pace of play was good. Leaves not a problem. Still have a problem with stiff staff attitude but course and price a good pick!

East is the East…course was fine, played it many times-my issue this time is the greens were recently punched and they showed it-no notice on Golf Now when I booked it, playing partners said the same thing…sure enough looked to book another round later tge same day and no notice of punch greens…and charged the full rate, no a good look….

Greater boxes and greens. Wide fairways. Accessible greens. Nice new traps on some holes. Very nice players on courses. Friendly staff. Will come again from Bergen County

I booked on Golfnow to play 18 holes after playing nine holes a sign said it was closed at the 10th hole. That was a ranger hiding at the 11th hole so I drove over to him.I spoke with him and he said it’s not my problem. Go speak with the office. I asked him if it was closed and he said no. when I got there it was closed. I saw other staff members outside of the office when I asked them. They were extremely rude and told me there’s nothing they can do. It says it on the website that if you tee off after 3:30 you cannot play 18 holes. My tee time was at 3:45. I explained to them I booked 18 and they didn’t care. They said: “if I don’t like it, don’t play here they sell out all the time”.

I use to play here years ago and it was always terrible. I was so pleasantly surprised to see how different it is now, how well it is being taken care of really well managed. Greens, fairways and sand traps are all in great shape, even a nice restaurant. Had a great Saturday afternoon there - recommend it highly!

Pace of play is pretty bad at Preakness. They really need a ranger to monitor pace of play. There's was a lot of waiting, where the group behind us was cursing at the group in front of us for being slow (the front group had 3 kids in it, who were taking multiple shots each). The gnats are a major problem at this course...while they don't bite, they constantly fly into your orifices (Eear, nose, mouth, and eyes).

Friendly staff really enjoy the East layout, course in great condition. Can’t beat it with the senior rate. Lotta fun
