Expensive, but par for the course
Steep price ($180pp) for November golf, but the course was in good shape, the holes are fun, greens rolled true. Will be back!
Good course but not worth the money
Luckily for me I got paired with an amazing father and son in our threesome. Which always makes the day better.
The staff was super friendly and course was in great condition. Greens were fast and our pace of play was fantastic.
I just don’t think that i would pay another $120 to come back to play at Rock Spring. There are definitely other county courses at nearly half the price that offer better golf.
Great Layout
One of two Seth Raynor designed public courses in America. Love the layout and the conditions are excellent
Excellent course if you can get a discounted rate
I loved the course and the conditions. Course wasn’t very crowded on a Monday and as a two week had to wait a short time but still played in about 3 1/2 hours. A bit pricey but look for occasion discounts on golf now
Dishonest
Be aware that if you book this course through golfnow, Rick Spring will not adjust the fee for walking or seniors. The rude manager adamantly blamed golfnow for this policy.although it's contrary to the courtesies I've received at most every other course. Golfnow confirmed that the course sets the fee, not them.
Great public course
Really enjoyed playing this course. It was in fantastic shape and a real test of golf. Only drawback was that it was a slow round, we were waiting on most shots.
TB2
Good day. Rough was high and tough. Greens receptive and true.
All in all good value. Didn’t partake in amenities.
Only downfall is no practice range.
Classic Golf
Nice to see the course is vastly improved from the last time played a couple of years ago. Every aspect of golf course conditioning was very good. The only negative was pace of play and the the greenskeeper's decision to set the white tees on the 12th hole at 266 yards so every amateur tries to drive the green on an uphill hole. A ranger would help with pace of play.
First cut
One of the few courses I’ve played on in New Jersey that has a first cut in the fairway. Outstanding
Malfunctions of Golf Carts Affecting Player Experience
The golf carts on the course experienced significant GPS issues that day. They frequently malfunctioned, even when staying on the cart path, causing several groups including ours to get stuck at various points. We often had to drive the carts in reverse through cart paths and rough terrain, which was quite challenging. We've played on many courses, including those with higher ratings than Rock Spring, and have not encountered this kind of geofencing issue before. Additionally, despite the 7:15 PM return time, the carts continued to beep the entire way back to the clubhouse, even after they were returned. This made for a frustrating experience, and it would greatly improve the overall enjoyment if the carts were properly programmed and maintained.
Nice Course
Approach shots are well protected with deep
Bunkers, and the greens undulate towards the
Fairways. Fun course to play.
Terrible Computer on New Golf Carts
I have been playing this course for several years., a few times when it was a private club..It’s a classic old 100 plus year old course designed by Seth Raynor.
The Town has done a good job of tuning this course up since it became public 3 or 4 years ago.
THE GPS ON THE NEW CARTS ARE TERRIBLE.!!
They are addressing a problem that doesn’t exist: Keeping carts from going too close to greens. The screen tells you don’t get closer than 30 yards from green but it goes off 80 to 100 yards from green and you have to reverse dozens of yards to get the thing to release.
Rip them out. everybody has range finders
And all you have to do is put white stakes up where cars should exit the fairway which work just fine.
Also, the rates have been jacked up, which is disappointing. A little moderation on that front would be appreciated..
Private to Public Course
Played in a small outing with a group at this course. Used to be private, now is public. Lots or promise, but current price doesn't reflect conditions.
Golden Age Classic
Not many public Seth Raynor courses to play so it’s always great to get a chance to play. Course was in good shape and had some tough pin placements. They are doing work on the cart paths but that’s no big deal. Only small issue is some workers just drive around not looking or paying attention. Grab a bite to eat in the restaurant after the round
