Early in Seasonh
Given the time of year the course was reasonably in good shape.
The greens were very playable for so early in the season
The bunkers/sand traps could be groomed a lot better with new sand utilized in ALL of the traps not just the ones that are new e.g. first and fifteenth holes.
The removal of some trees to help speed up play was an excellent decision without compromising the challenge of playing the respective holes where trees were removed,

Course needs a lot of work
I play more than 50 rounds p.a. at Byrne, but this year is probably the worst I have seen it. The fairways are dug up, Seems no one is replacing divots. The greens roll surprisingly fast, but a few (especially #7) are in bad shape and need serious work. Don't even get me started on tee boxes, They moved ttimes to 12 min intervals so that can help limit the use and abuse, but might not be enough.

Good layout
Hilly course lots of up and down holes. Greens in great shape overall for this time of the year. Will play again for sure.

Disappointed
"Being a curmudgeon is a must", must be in the job description to work here. All of the old retired staff members were pretty rude and made you feel like they were doing you a favor. The greens were bumpier than a hiking trail and the grass on every green was patchy and brown. Upon walking back as it was getting dark on the course, a Ranger drove up to us and scolded us for not coming in sooner as it was getting dark and that he "couldn't leave to go home" until we came in. No kidding! If I hadn't gotten a killer deal via GolfNow, I would've been angrier at the service we received. It costs nothing to be nice, and if you don't like your job, find a new one.

Fir mid March the course was in decent shape, challenging holes but not killers. Great time :-)

Course closed early on a fair weather day
No one not even the pro shop clerk told me the course was closing early. Arrived for 2:48 tee time and was on 12th tee box when ranger came out to tell us this was the last hole and gates were closing.

Francis Byrne
Very scenic and good course conditions, some of the fairways offer a decent challenge. I wish the staff was friendlier like somerset county courses, also the course is pricey when compared to the likes of neshanic valley
Byrne a Challenging but Fair Golf Course
Numerous improvements have been made to the course over the past two years. A number of trees have been removed to speed up play. Several holes have been reconfigured with bunkers added to make play more interesting and challenging. The tee boxes and greens well maintained.
Need more rangers patrolling the course to help speed up play.
