About
Nestled in the Lower Hudson Valley, Putnam County Golf Course enjoys a scenic location amid rolling hills yet it’s not too far from the city. Formerly known as Putnam National, the club was originally opened as a private club in 1959, it opened to the public when it was bought by the county in 2004 but it continues to offer the quality and amenities of a private country club. The golf course has front and back nines that are completely different from one another so be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag. Water hazards only come into play on two holes but don’t let that fool you, this course is formidable even for avid golfers. Putnam County Golf Course's final four holes are an especially challenging stretch that will test you with everything from uphill lies to a slew of strategically placed bunkers.

A hidden gem
Super friendly staff. Ease & flow of parking & loading up to play. Great open layout, well manicured course. Tight greens with challenging undulations.
GPS on carts & well marked fairway markers.
Cart girls for refreshments which seems to be a rarity these days . Overall a great club!
Highly recommend it . And reasonably priced to boot!

front 9 took 3.5 hours to play. to groups in front of us constantly re hitting shots, and also seemed like someone in each group was giving a lesson. back 9 took 1.5 hours to play.
A unique location, but slightly disappointing.
You have to play nervously on almost every hole, worrying about carts and flying balls coming from other holes.If the holes were spaced a bit further apart, it could have been a great course. The overall condition wasn't bad, but it seems like too many local beginners play here, which was disappointing.
