Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
About
Middle Island Country Club sits almost at the center of Long Island and has been one of the area's most popular public golf courses since first opening in 1965. The 27-hole course is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The entire layout was carefully carved from 225 acres of the Lustengarten Nursery. Middle Island's Dogwood/Oak combination features narrow fairways lined with trees. The greens on the front nine are the most challenging of any of the three nines. They have subtle breaks that leave many golfers wondering how they "just missed" it. The Oak nine is almost as tough, but you will get a slight break. It requires careful course management since there are many doglegs that can make it play longer than what's indicated on the scorecard.

Solid Round!
We had the entire course to ourselves on a nice day. Fairways were well maintained and the greens were in solid condition despite being March. Some challenging holes but there are holes to be rewarded with as well. Fun course, would come back at play 18.
Almost worth the $
Been playing here for years! I will only play when I get a HOT DEAL! they seem to be putting $$ into the clubhouse with some renovations thank god because it was falling apart. Their 9 hole Spruce course is by far their best and easiest course.
Oak and Dog have way too many areas rite off the fairway that are patchy and not maintained well at all. There is no rough on these courses, just fairway then dirt and gravel where rough should be. They have been increasing their pricing for the past 4-5 years with the new management. If they charged $40 for a round of 18 with a cart then it would be worth it. But they try and get $60+ based on time of day. Simply put if you want to play off spotty hardpan fairways and pay top dollar you will enjoy this place! It is so disappointing to hit a drive pin straight and when you get to your ball see it’s in the middle of the fairway and your hitting off hardpan.
Spruce course is nothing like their other 2! Spruce is wide open, It has Well maintained fairways and rough. You can tell that they take care of this course much better than the other 2. I would even ask if you could just replay Spruce for your 18 holes.
It is such a shame Because if they put some money to dedicate better irrigation and trim trees so you get more sun on the Dog and Oak courses it would be a premiere club. They have some stiff competition with other golf courses within a 15-20 mile radius so there is an abundance of golfers they would be able to capitalize on but until they take care of Dog and Oak like they do Spruce you will leave here thinking you got robbed for the price they charge. Hope this gets to management and they do change up how they care for ALL their courses and not just 1 of 3. Best of luck hope this helped and remember unless it’s a HOT DEAL I would pass this up to play at another club rite around the corner where every hole is beautiful and well taken care of.
Over booked tee time by Golfnow
I made a reservation at this course. They told me tee time was over booked mistakenly. I paid regular price for playing golf. They were not excused and asked me same price as golf course prepared. I had no choice to leave that place because I drove to come this course about an hour. It was very sad moment to go no where.
Very good condition
I've played this course numerous times and like the track very much. The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape considering this time of year. The greens were in excellent condition and it was a pleasure to putt on them. They ran very true and quick. The Staff here are always excellent and they let us out a little earlier than on tee time. If you haven't tried this course,I suggest you try it.
MICC
Middle Island Country Club didn’t seem to be very well kept. I think this could just be due to it being the beginning of the golf season. I got it on a “hot deal” of $17 18 holes and a cart. I feel that overall, it was just very bleak compared to other courses in the area. I would not recommend this course unless you got in on a “hot deal”.
Nice challenging course
Nice layout but not easy
Championship course
Good maintenance
Nice staffs
If you athletic golfer?!!!
Challenge this course
Micc
Since taken over by Asians course clearly headed downhill, greens are not in good shape
Great winter golf
Greens are good, some of the rough is thin and traps are a mess but great deal for winter golf and no one on course.
Amazing scale
It looks amazing view
All staffs very kindly served
Condition is very good
Long fairway Not easy course
Very nice condition
For this time of year the course was in very nice condition. The greens ran true. Fairways were in good shape, We played Dogwood to Spruce.Pace was excellent as we played the round in just under 4hrs......
January 2020
Considering it’s January the course was still in very nice shape only issue I noticed was no one’s fixing divots and ball marks on green otherwise course would be great
Great conditions for January
Course is in great condition, got there early, and they allowed us out early. No complaints in the off season.
Good winter play
Played here 3 times in the last 2 weeks. All were ridiculously cheap hot deals. Except for the traps, course is in surprisingly good shape for this time of year. Look forward to a few more playable days and cheap deals.
Decent course - over priced IMO
MICC is reliable as far as playing a course in decent shape. Summer time prices are ridiculous compared the some courses you could play. Even in December on golf now it’s $40 for an afternoon tee time. Not bad but not great.
Great players course.
I caught a hot deal for around $20 in a cart for 18.. cant believe what i got for the value. Tricky greens that ran so well. Unbelievably long, compare some hole distances to blacks length. I am a single digit handicap couldn't recommend enough to go play. If your looking for a challenge, play the championship tees. The two nines i played were completely different. One involved dog leg lefts while the next 9 was reversed. Talk about having to have all shots in the bag..great place highly recommend, good luck.
Open course for the beginner golfer. Greens are consistent and are usually kept well
