Spruce/Dogwood at Middle Island Country Club
About
Located almost in the center of Long Island, the aptly named Middle Island Country Club is one of the area's most popular public golf courses. The 27-hole layout is divided into three nines that are played in 18-hole combinations. The Spruce/Dogwood begins with a front nine that underwent a major renovation in 2008. An island green was added to the par-4 seventh and another major addition was new tee boxes to accommodate women, seniors, and championship play. Middle Island Country Club's Spruce nine boasts generous fairways and large greens where there is plenty of room to grip it and rip it. Take advantage of the scoring opportunities on this nine because the Dogwood nine gets much more challenging. The back nine is a formidable test with narrows fairways and greens with surprising breaks that will have you wondering how you "just missed" it.

the cousre was great
it was in great shape. Really enjoyed playing it would play it again
Best value for your money.
Great value for the money. Had a fun day playing fairly good golf with friends. I will definitely do this again if the opportunity presents itself. I hope all Long Island golf courses have Golf Now connection.
Fairways were fine.Course layout is good.Greens were recently aerated which made putting nearly impossible.Patrons should be told ahead of time the st
The pro shop is lacking many of the basic amenities that most courses offer.
Challenging course for the average golfer.
The staff was friendly and got us right out. No problem with the Golfnow booking. The course is in early spring shape as you might expect, but was still a nice place to play. Not really a course for the beginner.
really cleaned up course, greens were in great shape
will play this course again greens rolled fast and true
Staff not upfront about conditions
Very dissatisfied. On GolfNow website this course did not show an aeration alert like other coures do. I only booked there because there was no alert. When I got there I found out that the course was just recently aerated (both greens and fairways). The greens were covered in sand. I never would have booked there if I knew the conditions. This was not the first time I've been misled by the staff. Will never go back.
too bad players and bad starter
We stopped play 12th hole, caused too bad pace of play .
this course is well maintained
Middle Island country club is a nice well maintained course since the new management took over. The course is also a good challenge with alot of long holes.
beautiful course
Great service from staff , well maintained course . Greens were in fantastic condition
ROUGH CONDITIONS
GREENS WERE SLOW. BUNKERS NOT WELL TAKEN CARE OF. RAGGED EDGES AND WEEDS AROUND SOME. ROUGH WAS INCONSISTENT WITH WEEDS AND DIFFERENT GRASSES
Solid no frills golf courses
The bad: Don't expect too much from the driving range, and if it rains do not expect to play Dogwood, and it may be walking only. The good: The courses are all decent and generally in fairly good shape - but nowhere near pristine. You can usually get a tee time, so it is a nice fall back when you can't find anything better.
The ugly: If you spray the ball off the tee or your 2nd shots it will be a very long day for you.
Great course / super friendly
Played 18 on a Sunday afternoon. Turned out that there was an outing that day too, and the starter did a great job working us in and getting us out early. Probably would be better to have notified us before reserving, but overall worked out ok.
