Spruce/Dogwood at Middle Island Country Club

About
Located almost in the center of Long Island, the aptly named Middle Island Country Club is one of the area's most popular public golf courses. The 27-hole layout is divided into three nines that are played in 18-hole combinations. The Spruce/Dogwood begins with a front nine that underwent a major renovation in 2008. An island green was added to the par-4 seventh and another major addition was new tee boxes to accommodate women, seniors, and championship play. Middle Island Country Club's Spruce nine boasts generous fairways and large greens where there is plenty of room to grip it and rip it. Take advantage of the scoring opportunities on this nine because the Dogwood nine gets much more challenging. The back nine is a formidable test with narrows fairways and greens with surprising breaks that will have you wondering how you "just missed" it.

Gorgeous course
First time playing here and beat my expectations. 27 holes is awesome and could keep you at the course all day.
Rude
The starters were very rude. I arrived an hour before my tee time so I could hit the range and putt. Right away, the starter had to validate I had enough time to go to the range. He gives me the green light, then shortly after, 30 mins before my scheduled tee time, he’s barking at me to hurry up, that my group is on the tee. I respond, I still have time, I’m just starting to warm up. He leaves, comes back 10 min later and says let’s go, my 3-some is on the tee, yelling at us like we were late. We still had 20 mins, I said ok fine we will go, but keep in mind, we are EARLY, not late! Relax. Course is decent, wasn’t crowded (no wonder) but starters were very rude and I would not go back.
Middle island
Greens were a bit rough but course is pretty good shape.
Great day on a great course
Weather was heavy rain previous day an steady up to tee time overall conditions were great fairways and greens
Staff was extremely accommodating and was a pleasure to play here
Restaurant was not open so could not rate it
Good shape and friendly staff
Played weekday , easy 18 holes within 4 hours.
They keep good shape fairway, green. And staff/ shop/restaurant and starter are very friendly.
Nice Course but bunkers and greens need some work
Played Oak and Spruce 9s. As my title says bunkers need to be sifted to remove stones in them. Also greens had a lot of ball marks. Our group were fixing 2-3 a man on all greens. Also a lot of old scars on greens too. Other than that course was in pretty good shape.
