Vassar Golf Course

A few facts about the 1930 Vassar GC. There is not and probably never will be fairway irrigation. This makes the fairways sparse of grass and at the mercy of the weather. They will not look like a course that has fairway irrigation. The course cost $15 to play and has approaches and greens that will rival any in the area. That claim is agreed by people who anreceducated in agronomy. I notice some of the reviews are by people who have had an interaction with the Pro. Interesting that many negative comments come from golfers who have had 5 players in their group , driven their golf cart on the edge of the greens or don’t seem to feel replacing divots is their responsibility. Let’s be clear , this etiquette infractions will not be tolerated by the management. We expect all players to follow protocol , etiquette and rules of the game. We have so many great members and supporters of the course who follow the etiquette of golf. We expect everyone to do the same.

Course staff take themselves way too seriously and make people feel uncomfortable.

I have had issues with the golf pro -Brett I believe- for the past 3 years. He has made disrespectful sexual remarks about my girlfriend, assumed my African-American friend didn’t know how to play, and I have never had a positive interaction with him. This is in contrast to the other workers-like Tom I believe who works in the pro shop. The other workers have been nothing but pleasant and helpful. Brett likes to ride on the course in his truck and flex his ego. I have golfed at this course over twenty times and many of my friends refuse to play with me due to the Pros constant disrespectful behavior. If I was the course management, I would strongly suggest reviewing his impact on the patrons. I used to support this course but will now be voting in favor of the initiative to terminate the course lease from Vassar.

Pace was great, perfect for walking and refining your game.

Good for a first time golfer like myself, relatively short course, field is in top condition, staff friendliness would be the only downside to a great course for a great price.
