Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Would be nice
Course in good shape. Some pins in difficult position
Water coolers on the course would be nice.
Good day
My wife and I got paired up with two gentlemen that were great to play with. We were being held up on every shot, but much to be expected on a Sunday in the summer. The golf course was in great shape; par three tees were a bit torn up, fairways were perfect, playing the ball as it lies, rough was rather challenging, but much to be expected with the type of weather we’ve been having. The only negative I have is when I booked it through Golf Now as a hot deal, equaling $128 for two, I for sure thought the carts were included. When I got there, the cashier told me I owed $50 for cart. I looked again at my reservation and nowhere did it say carts were not included or included. So be careful when you book through Golf Now as it turns out it was not that great of a “hotdeal” at all. It was maybe five dollars less than the rack rate.
Casperkill
Nice RTJ design but lack of water, benches and restrooms on the course make it less enjoyable.
Nice layout, course is in great shape, good value for the money.
Very challenging
I had a wonderful interaction with the course personal, from the gentleman who checked me in, to the starter and even some of the maintenance staff.
Since I was early, I was able to use the range, ample room for warming up. They have a chipping area, with a bunker to work on your short game. The practice green was in great shape.
I was able to get out early to start my round, which was a good thing, I was just wanting to be alone and mourn my mother who passed two days prior. I felt my mom with me on my first drive, I hit it right where I wanted to, 275 yards just right of center of the fairway. The course is beautiful to play, hilly tree lined but trouble in just the right places, making you having to put the ball in the correct location. The greens rolled well, I didn't even see many ball marks on the greens, which is nice for once. The green are challenging with some subtle breaks that make you go huh?
The few bunkers I was in, are much different than I am used to compared to Florida. Luckily I avoided an little rocks that inhabited those bunkers. The bunkers do give you a challenge with their lengths, but the two I was in were not that deep faced so less intimidating to get out of.
Theere were only two draw backs I can have. One, not enough handicap parking, with a person with breathing issues it would be nice to have parking close to the buildings. Second, pace of play was truly slow for a Monday morning, but I did get off early and I was a single, but the two twosomes in front of me joined up and even though they had a foursome in front of them, they seemed to be playing in reverse.
With that being my only gripe, this course is a must play. I do try and play it when I come back to visit New York.
Solid
Pretty well kept , affordable everyday but deals available later on the weekends make it very attractive. Pace was a little lacking and there were no starters at tee or on course. All things aside still a great place to play
Father's day
Got started about 15 minutes late. Pace was slow but speeded up after 9 when the threesome in front of us dropped a player. Course was in great shape.
The weekday price is great, weekend not as much
I play here often and always enjoy it.
No complaints at all per se.
Just the holiday and weekend price is a little high.9
Great course price for cart excessive
Got a great deal on the golf now app $ 30.00 per player for 4. Only to realize the cart wasn’t included. That’s okay I didn’t mind that but
They charge $25 per man per cart . $100 for two carts . That’s a little excessive . Felt like a money grab . Otherwise good course . Well maintained . Will go back.
Great shape and layout
Had a Great round at Casperkill. Made a lot of birdies as the greens were running true. Course was well manicured and taken care of. I don’t love their GPS system as it has a very irritating beep to let you know your pace of play and by restricted areas. Lovely cart service
Love playing here, it’s better than All the Westchester county courses and worth the drive.
Love The Course Pace of Play Poor
We waited for the group in front of us on every hole. The green in front of them was always clear yet they would be standing around not doing anything. The display on our golf cart continually said our pace was too slow. I called the pro shop and asked them if there was a ranger on the course. They said no but they would send someone, but they said their GPS showed that there was slow play in front of the group in front of us. Will not be going back a very frustrating round.
Great track
Course is in very good shape, greens are beautiful and roll true. Rough is thick so there is a premium on hitting fairways even if you sacrifice some distance. Definitely coming back to play this one. Superintendent is doing a tremendous job and deserves a lot of praise for the condition of the course and especially the greens.
Tough walk
Unless you’re in great shape, I wouldn’t recommend walking this course. Because it’s up state, it very hilly and if it were any hotter than 75 degrees, I wouldn’t have made it to 18
Other than that, it was a nice course for the money
I like this course a lot. Just wish the rangers would enforce pace of play a little more…
