About
Smithtown Landing Golf Club offers both an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole executive course. The courses are open to the public on weekdays and to Smithtown residents on the weekends. The Regulation Course has a surprisingly tough layout with subtle but tricky contours throughout that cause some challenging lies. Mature trees line the fairways, making accuracy a necessity and there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. At 6,114 yards from the back tees, it's a golf course that requires strategy over length, beginning with the first hole. This dogleg right par 4 will force you to carefully think about the placement off the tee. In addition to the two golf courses, Smithtown Landing also has two practice greens with surrounding short game areas and a driving range.

Needs TLC
Tees were aerated and overwatered. Little grass lots of mud. Maybe put some seed in those holes and move the tee markers once in a while. Fairways were decent. Greens were very thin and also as wet as the tees. Ball mark city when it's soaked like that. I get it hasn't rained in a while but mange the water better. Had to quit after 15 holes in 5 hours. Yikes!
Greens destroyed and pace of play terrible
Front 9 was a crawl and backed up from holes 2-9.
High school program kept front 9 pace to almost 2 hours and 45 mins.
Excellent well designed short course
Well designed course. Lot of fun wholes on this course. Fairways are in great shape. Long rough makes up for a few short holes
Slow pace
It is almost always slow when I play here.
This time was especially slow. After finishing the first hole, we were already waiting for the group ahead to tee off. The group infront of them pulled way ahead but the ranger did not do anything.
Smithtown Landing
It took 5:40 minutes to play 18 holes, terrible. Ranger driving around had no effect on pace of play. Groups driving carts up to the greens around the no cart signs and no one did anything. Great layout in very good shape but will not return to play an almost 6 hour round. Awful experience.

Speed up play
Everything was great, except the play was very slow. Alot of standing around tee boxes waiting. Otherwise Great day and price is well worth it. Course was in good condition!
Smithtown landing
This is a typical “short” public course. The layout is great and keeps things challenging and fun. The course itself is typically in good condition. Their biggest problem is they heavily over book. There is no excuse for the front 9 of any course to take 3hrs. If you ask staff what’s going on or why there is 2 groups backed up on every tee ? They will tell you “well this is a public course”. Which is a complete cop out someone needs to step in and correct this.
