Nice layout, best on Staten Island
Greens recently aerated, no mention of that until I reached the first green. Got a super rate thru Golf Now or I would have been a bit ticked off. All 18 greens were not much use for putting, but to be expected this early in the season. This course is known for 5+ hour rounds but got around in a little over 4 hours. I'll give it another shot in a few weeks, nice course overall.
Overview
Tee boxes need work. Fairways were pretty decent. Greens were aerated so difficult to putt.
Long rounds and tough to get Tee Times
I live a mile from the course and find it hard to get Tee Times. I am often frustrated at the price to play and getting good tee times. If you can get a discount rate then play the course, otherwise, do as I do, and drive to New Jersey where the courses are about the same in price, in better condition and easier to obtain a tee time. The course is crowded; there are too many outings, clubs and groups that take up a lot of tee times. Pace of play is slow because too many people with no game play from the tips when they shouldn't. Also, another important point to make is the courses in Staten Island never let players know they are working on the course, where as, in NJ the people in the club house or on their website will mention they are performing work on the course before you book a tee time, and they will often discount the price. Don't expect that here.
this is always a challenging course to me, pretty good course
i just pay 30 with cart, this is the great value for money.
amazing , good job GolfNow. bravo
Nice to play
Should have been notified before making reservation that the greens were recently air-rrated
great layout lack of care brings it down home of the six hour round
tee off 220 made the turn at 520pm ask the ranger at the first green to ask the group in front of us to pick up their pace of play they were already a full hole behind he said he knew they were behind but there was a two group backup at hole three so he wasnt going to say anything i asked him to check back later and he never did by the eleventh hole it was more the two holes and i had to say please pick up the pace of play to them well the sun was quickly going down and i was not to happy this is typical at latourette too many groups pushed out. if they come they will sell them a tee time at latourette
Generous Fairways which is always good.
Be prepared for a long day. Pace of play is often slow. Despite that, it is a decent course with only a few difficult holes which means that if you can keep the balls in the fairway, you will score decently.
Overall course is well maintained. Tee box is often beat up a bit on a number of holes.
This course has wide fairways, nice elevation changes.
This is a favorite of mine, nice wide fairways in good condition. The only negatives here are; pace of play could be better almost 5hrs I would prefer around 4hrs and the 3rd green is shot due to the constant shade its in from the surrounding trees and that's not bad enough to keep me away. I look forward to the Doglegs on 6,8,10 and 18, elevation changes on 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,10,13,14,15 and 18. Enough Said.
