Rained the night before, so cart path only. Even so, the tee boxes are all in good condition, good layout and no issues with pace of play. Good value overall.
Great location.
The course is in a really great location. Got a lot of people walking and running around the park. Lots to look at in the park. You can see some of the museums as you play. Course is pretty standard but hilly on dogwood and redbud. Greens were pretty bad but it’s still the beginning of the season.
Interesting Layout
Played early Sunday with my daughter on Redbud/Dogwood routing. The Rebud was the more interesting of the two with some cool holes with elevation changes. The Dogwood was the flatter of the two and wove through marshes and grasses. Zoysia fairways were a plus. Rough was sporadic with multiple types of grass. Greens were fairly slow with numerous ball marks (an expected mini trait
Nice Course...slow play
Despite the brutal summer, the course was overall in pretty good shape. The fairways were excellent, and sand traps were in good shape. The greens were hit and miss on their conditions. Some desperately need work, but inconsiderate players are probably the source. That can also be said for the pace of play. I was a single with a cart and my front nine took forever. The course was pretty busy. A group of three with one walking should not have been allowed, and they never let me through although I was at a much faster pace despite playing poorly. This should have been policed. Because of the multiple courses, my back nine was different than others, and my pace of play was where it should be. It also didn’t hurt other plays had the respect to let me go through. I will play again. A word of advice to anyone unfamiliar with the course, you either need to go during an off time or make sure you have all day. It will take you that long.
Hawthorne
This was first time at FoPo in along time. Course was in excellent shape. Staff was very friendly and played 9 holes in 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon. Would definitely go back
Forest Park
Played Dogwood and Redbud and the courses were in the best condition since I have been playing there. Greens were in great shape, fairways were incredible, and tee boxes were great. I played at Golf Club of Wentzville the following day and Forest Park was in much better shape. Sand Traps still need some work but I shouldn’t be in there anyway. Would recommend these courses to everyone.
I enjoyed the entire experience! Great employees in the clubhouse bar/restaurant
Forest Park GC - first round of spring
Course is still brown (Zoysia) from winter and the aerated greens were a bit bumpy and unpredictable, but overall the beautiful weather made it a great round of golf to start the season. The biggest challenge (for me anyway) was the large number of bunkers around the course. I ended up playing out of at least 5 bunkers. We played Dogwood and Hawthorn to make up our 18. Good course close to home.
The Jewel of Metropolitan golf in St. Louis
When I get a chance to play any of the golf courses at Forest Park for a good rate I'm pleased. I usually play cheaper courses. These courses are beautifully designed and well maintained.
Hole in one
Great winter weather, lucky space in the winter cold to get out and play. Watched an old guy pop his cherry with a hole in one on the 8th hole of the Dogwood course.
Still in great shape for this time of year
Given that it is late in the season and Forest Park receives a significant amount of play, this course remains in fabulous condition. The tee boxes and fairways had few divots and the greens overall had minimal ball marks. My only complaint would be the greens had sand on them because they are getting ready to aerate them this week.
Forest Park remains one of the most underrated courses in St. Louis and is a great place to play.
Solid
Course has a pretty dope vibe. Good mix of technical and forgiving holes. When I played greens were pretty forgiving and average condition.
Forest Park - Hawthorn & Dogwood
I enjoyed the round. The pace of play was perfect for the day. I'll be back.
Fun Track
Beautiful weather and good course conditions made for a nice day of golf. Play was slow as they do not pair-up players enough on the course. Course conditions were VG considering this is a frequently visite city track. I enjoy playing this once a year and would be disappointed if this was my home course. A you can slip in a round here and have fun.
Surprise
I always assumed that this course would be run down like every thing else in the city, boy was I wrong! This is one of the nicest courses in the St. Louis area. Definitely put it on your use play list for this year
People problem
The course itself is nice enough and challenging, but because it's in Forest Park there are people EVERYWHERE. We had people walk across the fairway in front of us at least a dozen times and there was an annoying drone overhead for 3 or 4 holes plus the whole course is really loud with the traffic congestion.
