Slow
The course is centrally located for me but the pace of play is slow. It's not the courses fault but the golfers. Not ready golf.
Golf in the City
I have always enjoyed the courses here. Looks great, recent work on the course has paid off.
Great Cours - Slow Play
Forest Park should not put people out behind the slowest league play on the planet. We went off at 6:15 for 9 holes and we finished no. 9 in the dark at 8:45. Staff was great, course is in very good condition. Great value. Only problem is slow play - no way should it take 2 1/2 hours to play 9 holes.
August 4 Redbud to Dogwood at Forest Park
The course staff were great, but the main reason for a low rating was the fact that the water coolers were empty by the time we played our 18 hole round. It was a hot day and we saw the beverage cart 1 time in 18 holes. Now she did say to make sure and stay hydrated which is smart to do, but I had no idea that we needed to buy all our water or beverages at that point in time. We teed off at 1:30, but that is still no excuse to let the water coolers stay empty on a golf course. The overall conditions of the course were good except for the large amount of unfixed ball marks on the greens. I know this isn't the courses' fault. Golfers, just please be courteous on the greens and fix your marks.
Can't beat the price!
Pace of play a little slow. No restrooms on course. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great place to work on your game. Can't beat the price!!
Nice course with variety of holes. Kids friendly
The course is pretty and family friendly. I play here a lot with junior golfers (my kids, their friends, my friends' kids). The course is kept in relatively good shape. Parking is easy. There are plenty of carts. Very happy with my experience.
No drinking water
it was 90 degrees and very high humidity. None of the water coolers had water and we only saw the beverage cart on the third hole. Never saw it again. I am surprised they didn't find people passed out on the course.
Forest Park
the fairways were in great shape, and the greens rolled well. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Backup
It took us over five hours to get thru eighteen holes.
Slow play out of the two foursomes in front of us.
At least a five minute wait on every hole!!!
Love Redbud
Great course. One of my favorites in the area. The only bummer is that you can only play it if you play 18 holes. The pace of play was terrible. We were a two-some behind 3-4 four-somes most of which were older women. So the play was really slow. But the course was great and we had a lot of fun!
Fun course to play and great scenery
Course was in great condition considering all the rain we've had lately.
Just a great course
I love the faurways and the greens, the tee boxes where good but could use some attention. Being that said I will play here often.
6 hour round
I realize it was a holiday weekend, but playing 18 holes in 6 hours is horrendous. Not a single starter or marshal on the course to help speed up the game. Waited on every single shot. I would not play this course on a weekend or holiday ever.
Always in good condition
I love playing at any of the Forrest Park courses. They are always in good shape. Sometimes they overbook. On Hawthorn, there are a lot of walkers do to it being flat so the pace of play can be kind of slow. But I can't beat the location considering the proximity to work and home.
Greens fair yet challenging some fairways very difficult to play due to severe slopes
Greens good shape and fair. Rough eats your ball up. Bunkers not in good shape and many golfers do not bother to rake. Also don't repair divots on green. No marshalls on course so slow play can be a problem. Some fairways have severe slopes in landing area and nearly impossible to keep ball in fairway. Many golfers who should play it forward and don't. Price is good
Highlands Course - Tricky fairways
The fairways are narrow with some difficult rough. The bunkers add to the difficulty on some holes. The course is very short but fun to play.
Nice course for a quick 9 after work
As long as the course isn't crowded, it is a good course for a good value. Great location and terrific city surroundings.
Always a good time
Beautiful views and good course conditions made this last round a lot of fun.
Convenient & Cheap
Actually played the Redbud/Dogwood combo for 18 holes. Course conditions were fine for this time of year but these courses get a ton of play and they show it. Grabbed a "hot deal" on GolfNow for $20 plus $4 fee so the all in $24 price was right....the normal rack rate is too high for the conditions. But you know what you are getting before you sign up to play and the location is on the way home from the office. Will certainly play there again.
