Warm
Just wish we had a driving range to warm up with. Nothing fancy.
Doing a good job with the course
Anybody who's local has played this course before, probably a number of times. I've been playing it for 25 years and i have to say they are doing a great job with it. Ever since they did the renovation, 10-15 years ago, I always think the course is in good shape, ESPECIALLY considering what I have to believe is a huge amount of play. It seems they have a ton of tournaments here and just get a lot of players in general. The tee box conditions are very good, as are the fairways. I've played some higher-end local courses that are not in any better condition than Forest Park. The greens are also pretty good, again, especially considering the large amount of play they get. Dogwood and Redbud are the two 9's that incorporate quite a few of the "old" holes. I will say that, although it's in nice shape too, I'm not a huge fan of the Hawthorne 9, as it's a bit flat and straight but that's just my personal preference. Keep maintaining the course the same way please!!
good for all players.
We always enjoy playing Forest Park courses.
Just airified Greens
They got me out quickly, and staff was great. I was able to play a speed round, as the weather called for rain, and scared everyone else off.
I am assuming the greens had been airified with in the last week or two. They were really slow and hard to judge. Reading them was very hard as everything looked beige. I hope in a few more weeks or a month when I come back the green conditions are much improved. I realize the necessity of maintenance, and it's not necessarily a knock on the course. I just hope they are doing the proper work to make the rest of the season better. If so, then I am happy with everything.
Fantastic weather day for December!
Great weather, course in +good shape, but very slow play!
A good day at forest park
A little slow but nice day to be out there. Great round for the price.
Top tier course but lots of tournys
Great course, perfect location, phenomenal fairways and greens. Top tier course, with a top tier price, my only real issue is the availability, they run so many tournaments, it is hard to get on for 18 on the Dogwood and Redbud courses.
Golf in Forest Park
Had a great day, Course is in good shape, only a few rough spots. The new traps and ground under repair on certain holes is understandable. I like the additions as it will make the course play a little tougher. Greens were in good shape. A tournament ran through earlier and the greens were marked up a bit but that is usual.
Overall Forest Park is a good value and in nice shape.
Slow
The course is centrally located for me but the pace of play is slow. It's not the courses fault but the golfers. Not ready golf.
Golf in the City
I have always enjoyed the courses here. Looks great, recent work on the course has paid off.
Great Cours - Slow Play
Forest Park should not put people out behind the slowest league play on the planet. We went off at 6:15 for 9 holes and we finished no. 9 in the dark at 8:45. Staff was great, course is in very good condition. Great value. Only problem is slow play - no way should it take 2 1/2 hours to play 9 holes.
August 4 Redbud to Dogwood at Forest Park
The course staff were great, but the main reason for a low rating was the fact that the water coolers were empty by the time we played our 18 hole round. It was a hot day and we saw the beverage cart 1 time in 18 holes. Now she did say to make sure and stay hydrated which is smart to do, but I had no idea that we needed to buy all our water or beverages at that point in time. We teed off at 1:30, but that is still no excuse to let the water coolers stay empty on a golf course. The overall conditions of the course were good except for the large amount of unfixed ball marks on the greens. I know this isn't the courses' fault. Golfers, just please be courteous on the greens and fix your marks.
Can't beat the price!
Pace of play a little slow. No restrooms on course. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great place to work on your game. Can't beat the price!!
Nice course with variety of holes. Kids friendly
The course is pretty and family friendly. I play here a lot with junior golfers (my kids, their friends, my friends' kids). The course is kept in relatively good shape. Parking is easy. There are plenty of carts. Very happy with my experience.
No drinking water
it was 90 degrees and very high humidity. None of the water coolers had water and we only saw the beverage cart on the third hole. Never saw it again. I am surprised they didn't find people passed out on the course.
Forest Park
the fairways were in great shape, and the greens rolled well. I would recommend this course to anyone.
Backup
It took us over five hours to get thru eighteen holes.
Slow play out of the two foursomes in front of us.
At least a five minute wait on every hole!!!
Love Redbud
Great course. One of my favorites in the area. The only bummer is that you can only play it if you play 18 holes. The pace of play was terrible. We were a two-some behind 3-4 four-somes most of which were older women. So the play was really slow. But the course was great and we had a lot of fun!
