Best 9 Hole Course in Forest Park
Challenging yet fun course. Holes 4 and 8 are so fun to hit driver on. Only bad part is the tee boxes and greens get torn up becuz of all the tourneys. Hole 7 is pointless. Despite that I love this course and play it every chance I get.
Good course, WAAAAYYYYY too slow
I've played this course before and was very excited to play again. I got an early tee time thinking I would be able to play it in 4 1/2 or under as I had before. This time it took me 5 1/2 hours. I was assigned to play Redbud-Hawthorne. However, when I got to the 1st tee at Redbud, there was a traffic jam. I ended up starting 20 minutes late. Also, there were two groups ahead of me that were actually playing as a sixsome. So when there was a backup, with them playing as six, the delay was even worse. After a few holes, things opened up a bit. Then when we got to Hawthorne, and the same thing happened. Also, the course markings are not very good. There is a 150 yd marked in the middle of the course but the 100/150/200 yard markers are invisible unless you happen to run over them on the golf cart. It would be nice if you could see them from anywhere on the fairway. It's a nice course to play but be prepared to spend more time than you bargained for.
Great early bird deal.
I played the dogwood and hawthorn courses at forest park. The course was in good shape and held up well considering the large amount of rain the area received in the days leading up to my play. The bunkers were the only let down, as they had been unable to drain, leaving them unplayable. The online tee time reservation was simple and the course was fun for an average golfer like myself.
Worth every penny
This was my first time playing the course as it is set up now. The course was in great shape and for as crowded as it was moved along pretty well. I have always loved this course, just thought it was kind of pricey. I got a deal on line and decided to go for it. After playing for $35 on Sunday, I would really consider paying the normal $54 price. This course has always been a favorite of mine. The fairways were perfect and the rough was tough but fair. Greens could uses some work, but the volume they get there, it's understandable that some people will not fix their ball marks and scuffs on the greens. This would be a pretty good walking course, lots of them out there. I recommend trying out this course and seeing what you think. It is the best $35 I have spent for golf in the last few years.
Have always liked Forest Park
Nice course. Makes you feel good about your game while still offering some challenge. Course gets a lot of play, but still is in good shape.
Great value and fun
Lot of fun and challenges. Took my grand kids a fair financial value for gramps
Forest Park Golf Course
Not a horrible day but ridiculously slow play and just way too busy for my taste.
Staff.
Staff a little snarkey. Partner didn't show and they wouldn't rain check. Would trade for range token, nothing.
Ball marks and marshalls
The course is in great shape but they need marshalls to control the abuse. I was in 4 sandtraps during the round and each time was in someone's deep footprint (no raking done). The greens always had extra ball marks to fix. Never saw a marshall but to allow abuse on such a beautiful course is a shame.
Forest Park hosting the US Open?
I like challenges but stupidity is another thing. A city park course with long rough- gee I wonder if play will be slow? Long rough and divots galore. If you are gonna play here plan on a long wait unless your tee time is early. We played Dogwood and it was better but when people are two feet off the fairway and looking for their ball, you've got issues.
Hawthorn is in nice shape
Played 9 on a Saturday. Aside from the clueless threesome in front of us that we had to ask to play through (a dad with two 10-12 year olds who've obviously never played before and have zero knowledge of golf etiquette - one set of clubs for both boys, driving within a foot of greens, taking 6-7 practice swings before hitting the ball three feet, throwing clubs... ) it was great. Course in nice shape. Greens not bad for the time of year. Fairways close to perfect and roughs nice and thick. Traps can use some work but they're always kinda bad at all three FP course. Once we passed the slow players it was pith sailing. Very nice!
Great Setting-Shorter Course
Really enjoyed the round. Greens were just aerated so putting was not very fun but that will change. Three different sets of 9-s make for a unique experience.. One very flat, another built into the hills, with the 3rd a mix of the two. Shorter course in general. If your driver is on, you'll have a lot of driver/pw or driver/9i shots to the green. Overall a good round that moved VERY fast. Just get there before 4:00 when the leagues go off.
Fair value.
This was a decent little track. It's about 6,000 yards with lots of contours, depending on which nine you play. Excellent views of the city.
My favorite 9 hole course
This review is for the Highlands at Forest Park.
Staff is friendly. The view of Barnes Hospital and surrounding buildings on holes 4-6 is amazing! The course is fun to play...not too hard...not too easy. There are no water hazards. Elevation is mainly flat. Course includes 1 par 5, 5 par 4s and 3 par 3s. Par is 34. They have a driving range and a place to practice chipping.
A nice afternoon
Forest Park is a nice city course. Slow play is expected here. The greens usally look like the landing area at a bombing range.Would somone please issue these golfers a divot tool.Club house staff is the best in the area. These guys do not know the word NO.
Nice 9 hole course
9 hole course in very good condition. Have to make accurate shots, some hazards. Will return in future.
Great course for the price
Staff was super friendly!!! Will be returning, great course for the price.
Nice course
Very nice course for a day out. Views of art hill are perfect setting
Nice course for the money and short drive in the heart of the city.....all water coolers on course were empty
Love how close to home I can play for cheap. However they need to make sure they keep water coolers full on course
Exceeds expectations
The first time I played this course I was blown away by how well maintained and fun it was. Additional visits have been equally impressive.
