Location, location, location...
Just like in real estate, it's about location. Friendly staff eases the pain of having to pay for location. This easy lay out, featuring few bunkers and flat greens is a great place to build confidence within your game. Watch out for the casual lovers holding hands strolling across the fairways, the skateboarders racing down cart paths, and the couples enjoying picnics just off into the distance but still in the field of play.
Great course, great locale
This is 9 of 27 holes at the Courses of Forest Park, and of the 3 9ers this one is my least favorite, though still a good play.
Its a pretty flat, straightforward course, and if you keep it in the fairway you'll be feeling great about your game at the end. They try to keep it entertaining with some well positioned fairway bunkers and mounding/elevation around some of the greens. #9, a par 3 over water (only water on this 9 holes) can kill an otherwise good round! Stay dry and have fun on this one.
Excellent couorse in the middle of it all
Great Course, 9 of 27 at Courses of Forest Park.
Hole #1 hits from an elevated tee, which always gets you pumped!
Always in great condition, this 9 holes has great topography, and hole #4 is one of my favorites around. Play this course before work whenever I can! Not the longest course for sure, but a great fun play with impeccable course conditions, excellent location/surroundings and golfnow weekday pricing that is always a great deal.
For the amount of play this course gets, it was in great shape. Rough not too long that you can't find a ball. Greens were fast and true.
Always a great course with views of the city and beautiful park. Other players are friendly. Great atmosphere for city golf. Very convenient. Parking can be a hassle with a small lot. On course beverage service with a good Pro shop and nice dining/ carryout menu.
This course is a great deal and fun to play.
For the price, the course was great and fun to play. However I did have an issue with the booking process. The clubhouse attendant at the course said that he could not give me the price that I reserved on the Golf Now website because it was a holiday. I raised a small question with that but agreed to pay the extra amount without any argument as he said they were "having quite a few problems with bookings made on the website." However, each one of my group mates received the Golf Now reserved price 10 minutes later from the same attendant without any question. I'm not sure if there was an issue with the computer system or the attendant, but when I returned to the clubhouse to question why the attendant would not give me the reserved price and then immediately turned around and gave the price to my group he seemed disinterested and confused. Luckily a manager happened to be standing close by and was able to refund me for the difference in price very easily.
good for beginers
the course is great for people who are just starting to play.
if played from the back tee's the better golfers will have to work some of there shots to keep them out of trouble.
Great location in middle of Forest Park
This course is a Par 34 with several short holes which people try to drive the Par 4s. So it is often backed up on every hole because there are so many big hitters these days. The zoysia fairways and greens are in great condition. Very convenient location and a great 19th hole with beer specials and great food menu. A nice place to play if you have a group of friends trying to have a good time, but not recommended for the impatient golfers who are overly serious about their Saturday morning rounds.
great course for your buck
staff friendly and course is in great condition for all the rain we've had!!!!
Changed My Mind
I played the Dogwood 9 this morning for $20.50.
It's the exact same price as Ruth Park for 9 holes and it's smack dab in the middle of forest park.
Just to give you a hint, I am booking for tomorrow on another 9 holes and I may go for the trifecta on Wednesday. I don't know what they are charging for 18 holes, but it is a good deal.
The course is really short. REALLY short, so play from the tips if you hit long. That being said, the greens are so small, it's still quite a challenge to score well.
Fun course.
Keep it Striaght
Very Short, Tight Course. Over booked. It took 3 hours for us to play nine holes. Main reason was due to a 4 some of ladies in front of us that were over the age of 70. 3 hour round is ridiculous.
Course was in good shape though; tall rough, easy green, and narrow fairways made it a bit of a challenge. No need for a driver here!
WIll play again.
Great location, fun course
The course is in Forest Park, which is lovely, and the course is a fun track. With a little more love from the greenskeepers, it could be a true gem.
Only expensive because of location
This is a nice 9 hole golf course in Forest Park. It's got the best driving range in St. Louis and is a fun play.
My only complaint is that it is nowhere near nice enough for them to justify what they charge for the course, location be damned.
Paid for 18 holes and only got 9
Showed up to play 18 holes and there was a tournament going on 18 of there 27 holes. Therefore, I was only allowed on Hawthorne. All the proshop could say was sorry we need to fix that. Unacceptable and misleading to pay for 18 holes through and only get 9.
