The Wigwam Arizona
About The Wigwam Arizona
Located in the West Valley near Phoenix-Scottsdale is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, Wigwam. Set on 440 acres, this village-style resort features three 18-hole golf courses, including two designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., most notably the famous Gold Course. The resort features 331 casitas and suites with large private patios and several resort pools, including a new 25-foot water slide tower. The resort-style golf courses are more parkland in nature than surrounding desert courses and feature palm trees and water hazards sprinkled throughout. There are four dining concepts, led by the signature Litchfield's Restaurant serving local farm-to-table cuisine, while there is Red's Bar & Grill for casual fare and the Wigwam Bar, which is the social epicenter of the resort. Recreation outside of the 54 holes of golf is nine lighted tennis course and two regulation bocce-ball courts, sand volleyball, bike rentals and yard games.Facts

Tricky Greens
This course appears to be fairly easy when you look at the yardage. But... greens were moderately fast and pin placements made putting difficult with pins cut in very nasty positions. Played this course twice in the last month, and pin placements today made greens treacherous as compared to previous rounds. Downhill puts left little margin for error. Course is in excellent condition. Pace of play was slow but understandable due to frost delay which backed up all t times.
Good course for all abilities. 18th hole is a very strange finishing Par 5. Course was wetter than I would expect. Greens rolled true.
Even after a frost delay this morning, we got out only about 20 minutes late and finished right under 4 hours. I would play here again.
Great Time
I have played at the Wigwam for many years each winter and it never lets me down. The courses are fun and the people are nice. The cost it a little high compared to nearby courses but tolerable.
Chilly
The course was in very good condition, the ruff was not real thick, the fairways were in very good shape, and the greens have come in since being reseeded and are fast.. My only complaint is the amount of bird droppings on the course.. Pretty much everywhere. Still would Recommend.
Decent Track
Perfect weather. No place to buy any beverages at the clubhouse. No restaurant or bar. Course was nice. Not too demanding. In good shape.
Decent track, funky greens
Frost delay but well staffed to keep it moving. A lot of crowned greens. Too many 3 putts.
Not the best first impression..
So when I showed up I figured there was going to be a little bit of a frost delay because of the cold morning.. (it would be nice to get an email, but not a big deal) then I checked in and they told me I was going to be on a totally different course then what i paid for because of a tournament that got pushed back.. ( and again it would've been nice to get and email/phone call telling me that) so instead of getting to play the gold course which is what I paid for and is just over 7300 yds they put me on the blue course which play 6000 from the tips. And to top it all off it was backed up all day. Hole 2 had 4 groups waiting at the tee with one on the green.. (never seen that before) I was told by a couple of people that it's not normally like this, but either way I probably won't be back.
People make the difference
A busy little Golf Course that’s in good shape for January. Dawn in the pro shop, Andre, our starter, and the cart girl, all were extremely pleasant.
Too late to finish
Due to frost delay and tee times backed up we could not finish our round before dark. We did start right at 2:00 pm, but with two to three groups waiting at each tee boxes, it was impossible to play in less than four hours even as a threesome. Not the golf course fault. It is a beautiful course and normally goes fast. We’ll come back at earlier time.
Fun Course
The blue course is fun. It’s short but the greens are tiny and very sloped. Depending on where they put the flag, it can be tough to chip anywhere near the house. Precision is paramount! The whole facility was in amazing shape.
The staff is awesome! The practice facility is also top-notch!!!
Great condtions
This is my go to course during AZ golf season. Good value and course was in great condition. Pace of play was 3:25 for a twosome with no visible group in front of us. Good place to start golf season and knock off the rust.
