The Wigwam Arizona
About The Wigwam Arizona
Located in the West Valley near Phoenix-Scottsdale is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, Wigwam. Set on 440 acres, this village-style resort features three 18-hole golf courses, including two designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., most notably the famous Gold Course. The resort features 331 casitas and suites with large private patios and several resort pools, including a new 25-foot water slide tower. The resort-style golf courses are more parkland in nature than surrounding desert courses and feature palm trees and water hazards sprinkled throughout. There are four dining concepts, led by the signature Litchfield's Restaurant serving local farm-to-table cuisine, while there is Red's Bar & Grill for casual fare and the Wigwam Bar, which is the social epicenter of the resort. Recreation outside of the 54 holes of golf is nine lighted tennis course and two regulation bocce-ball courts, sand volleyball, bike rentals and yard games.Facts

Blue
Played the blue course and conditions were good. The greens are concrete and do not hold at all. +5 handicap and I can usually spin the ball, if you land on the green it’s gone especially on par 3s. Greens are in great shape and look good just play awful. The cart girl was pathetic, we saw her 5 times. She stopped us on hole 2 after that we saw her on 6,11,16 and all 3 times she just drove by us without saying a word. Worst cart girl I’ve ever seen.

The Wigwam Gold has great potential but the pin placements in light of the fact that the greens were undulating and fast was not fair. I couldn't believe some of the pin placements!! I have accepted the fact that the green normally don't hold because of their hardness but to add ridiculous pin placements is too much.
Wigwam Red
Generally ok but they were bad at service. The sprinklers went on at the 17th hole and we were not lagging at all. Course was fair with the fairways cut very short making play more difficult.
Pleasant surprise
This is the first time I played on this course and was pleasantly surprised. The course is well maintained, the golf carts have GPS, and the watering hole was very pleasant. The beer was ice cold. Looking forward to playing it again.
Fun course but slow round
Love the course but needed the Marshall to get folks in line and keep the round moving.
Worth the Drive
Red course has always been one of my favorites. A little bit of a drive. Found a DealTime rate so that always helps
Course was in great shape. Greens rolled true
Pace of play was 3:45. Nice to have lots of shade if you do have to wait
Shorter course
Blue course is shorter than Red and Gold but more challenging. Most of the greens are slopped so that if you miss left or right or long your ball will not hold the greens. The layout is challenging and fun. Course is in great shape
Greens rough
This is a classic course i have played several times. The price was great. The condition of the tee boxes and fairways was good. The greens had many, many pitch marks that had not been fixed.
Vanilla
Can't give 5 stars in any respect, but still a decent round of golf.
Greeter/bag drop attendant was great.
Pro shop staff was consumed with texting or playing games on his phone he just said "1st tee is open" without looking up.
Course is pretty strait forwad with little surprises. Decent condition, ample length from the back tees.
I have now played gold and red. Gold seems to have a lil more character and tougher greens.
All and all courses are kinda vanilla in my opinion, I understand a revamp of the facility is slated for the near future and I will look forward to it.
