The Wigwam Arizona
About The Wigwam Arizona
Located in the West Valley near Phoenix-Scottsdale is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, Wigwam. Set on 440 acres, this village-style resort features three 18-hole golf courses, including two designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., most notably the famous Gold Course. The resort features 331 casitas and suites with large private patios and several resort pools, including a new 25-foot water slide tower. The resort-style golf courses are more parkland in nature than surrounding desert courses and feature palm trees and water hazards sprinkled throughout. There are four dining concepts, led by the signature Litchfield's Restaurant serving local farm-to-table cuisine, while there is Red's Bar & Grill for casual fare and the Wigwam Bar, which is the social epicenter of the resort. Recreation outside of the 54 holes of golf is nine lighted tennis course and two regulation bocce-ball courts, sand volleyball, bike rentals and yard games.Facts

Great Course. Insane Homeowner!
Golfing the red course, watch out for the guy the left of the tee box on 11. He has a Spanish style home. This guy laid into me because a guy in a random pair we were grouped with hit his ball in his backyard. He tried to claim we broke a window, but refused to allow us to verify prior to calling insurance. I wouldn’t have made a claim as I didn’t hit the ball, but this guy screams insurance fraud. I followed the logical steps to de-escalate the situation and provided rational solutions and he lost if and ran inside. When we finished our round, the staff members knew of the guy from previous complaints and recommended we shrug it off. If this guy try’s to call you out just keep on driving and enjoy the rest of your round. Course was great and staff was great as always.
Was fine except for starter Joe... would be nice if he wasn't there anymore
Nice course
The staff was excellent! Greeted us and made us feel welcome. They were very helpful and friendly. The course is getting ready for overseeing. The course was fair and consistent. The only issue was the pace of play.. Too many golfers on the course. If hole we played had Three groups on each hole except the par 3s. Even with that said, we still had a good time. This is a great golf facility and I highly recommend playing here.
update to angry review
First of all I'd like to update my previous post . I left the previous message in anger due to their bold approach of guilt. I should have contacted their golf pro to explain his accusation.. I will call his office tomorrow and give him the benefit of the doubt.
I was a passenger in the cart (not the driver) and my playing partner was the main driver of the cart. Also, I walked several holes because of errant shots and maybe something happened while I was away??? My partner has denied crashing the cart. If the cart was unknowingly damaged during our round, then I would be flabbergasted.
So after cooling down:
I really liked playing here and the course has a nice and challenging layout. The restaurant/bar looks enticing. Walking to the pro shop is a little confusing (the parking lot is across the street) but we found it without a hitch. The price of their sandwich on the course was reasonable.
Play here and they’ll accuse you of damaging their cart
I played here on 10/4 and five days later I get an email telling me to give them my CC to pay for damages to their cart. Wow!!! I couldn’t believe it! They said I rolled it or crashed into a tree and that the frame was bent. So it took them five days to notice that??? I’ve been playing for over 30 years and never experienced anything like this.
In that first email they’re asking me to pay for damages or else they’ll file a police report. When you’re innocent, you fight to the end. As a firefighter and a veteran, I’d expect the first email to ask me to contact them regarding damage to their cart. But I’m guilty by their “kangaroo court” before I even read that first email. What’s the use of discussing the situation with them if their court has already preordained me guilty. Bring on the police report and the lawsuit. When you’re innocent, you got to defend yourself.
I wonder how often they make these false accusations to out of state golfers. But, that’s okay, I’m in Scottsdale all the time if I have to appear in court. The burden of proof is on them.
I returned a cart in an undamaged condition and then they try to scam me??? If the cart was damaged (an obvious bent frame) like they said it was, then they should have noticed it right away not five days later.
WigWam Blue
Excellent condition. Can’t wait for the Red course to reopen.
Excellent!
Wigwam is always in great shape. One of the first greens (either 2 or 3 I forget) was a bit burnt up, but did not affect play. Literally my only complaint and that’s being super picky. Go, you’ll have fun!
Short but decent track.
In retrospect I probably should have played from the tips.
I played as a single so got through several groups before matching up with a pair of gentlemen on the back.
All in all good day and accommodated a late tee reservation.
Still a great course
The course is in very good condition and I enjoyed playing Wigwam gold course. The staff is always friendly and welcoming.
Great course
Played the red course. We got there early and the range was closed, which was fine. We headed over to the red course and checked in. Asked the starter if they were full up till our tee time. He was very abrupt and rude.
We started putting for practice and I looked over at the tee box a few times. It was empty. I did not approach the starter and after about ten minutes he came over and started an argument. He said I see you looking over there at the tee box, we don’t have any openings. You don’t know our policy here. I was polite and said I looked over but did not come approach you so I’m not sure why you are picking a fight and being rude. He started in again and basically told him to leave me alone. We are putting and will tee off at our time.
He totally back tracked and said. The other people are late, go ahead. I said no we will wait. Then he kept telling us to go until finally we went. He came by our group a few times and apologized.
Not a great way to start a round as I had family in from out of town
Other than that it was a nice day on the course. I hope he’s not there again
Great CC Atmosphere
Always feel welcome here, staff very helpful, great facilities, usually crowded but pace usually acceptable
