The Wigwam Arizona
About The Wigwam Arizona
Located in the West Valley near Phoenix-Scottsdale is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, Wigwam. Set on 440 acres, this village-style resort features three 18-hole golf courses, including two designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., most notably the famous Gold Course. The resort features 331 casitas and suites with large private patios and several resort pools, including a new 25-foot water slide tower. The resort-style golf courses are more parkland in nature than surrounding desert courses and feature palm trees and water hazards sprinkled throughout. There are four dining concepts, led by the signature Litchfield's Restaurant serving local farm-to-table cuisine, while there is Red's Bar & Grill for casual fare and the Wigwam Bar, which is the social epicenter of the resort. Recreation outside of the 54 holes of golf is nine lighted tennis course and two regulation bocce-ball courts, sand volleyball, bike rentals and yard games.Facts

Liked it.
Nice layout with wide forgiving fairways. Greens are true are in GR8 shape as was everything else.
Great experience!
Great short course!! Fast greens. Very well maintained! I’ll be back.
.
Outstanding facility. Course conditions were perfect. Greens were challenging but fair. Overall a great round.
Good practice area
Shooting gallery out there. Think you would have been better off making two courses instead of three
Stellar!
2nd time playing the Blue course.
Tee boxes, fairways and greens were fantastic considering the recent rain events.
A few holes were Cart Path Only, no big deal.
Starter ( John) was friendly and as quick to pair me up with a twosome, to get out a bit earlier.
Be back soon!
Meh, turf, greens, amenities have declined.
I’ve played all three Wigwam courses (Gold, Blue, Red) multiple times. Perhaps this time of year gets too busy and they can’t keep up, but the course and amenities are not well manicured anymore and for the price, I’d play other courses instead (like Verrado Founders or Victory courses) in this area.
The fairways were ok, I mean they are of course better than $60 courses, but I’ve played Verrado and Blackstone Countey Club for the same prices and Wigwam is two steps down. The greens are three steps down. All greens on all 3 of their courses have bald spots galore.
The bathroom had standing water flooded through feom a rain storm days earlier, but no excuses not to have pushed that water out the door.
The ball washers were broken on some holes.
Now, the practice facilities are great because they have multiple greens for short chipping by the driving range, and then they have two other greens for large chipping by the club house, which is awesome (not even blackstone and Verrado offer longer chipping ranges) and their driving range is nice.
How the course plays.. the Blue and Gold courses have lots of elevated greens so that can be challenging for many players, the speed of the greens is very slow every time I’ve played, and the greens do not break much at all despite their curves and humps. In fact, the only time you may see significant break on the ball, is if the green sits next to water. So you need to know the ball will break towards the water on that hole. I sank about a 60 foot putt and it was straight the entire time despite having to go over a few little bends and curves.
Some of their mini canals that run through the course have only small puddles of standing water in them. Perhaps that’s a seasonal thing, but it looks a little ugly. I seen a few small groups of fish trying to live out their last days in the little bit of standing water left. It was odd.
I used to love wigwam, played it weekly, but now I’ve switched and started playing Verrado Founders course more instead. I’d recommend the same. At least until the attention to detail improves on the turf, greens and amenities.
Oh and PS, hands down, Wigwam had the best chicken nacho you will ever have. Must try.
They also have USB ports in their golf carts, so I commend them on that. The workers have always been polite and respectful.
To me, I’d only play these courses anymore if I got a “deal” on the golf pass app, it’s not worth the $100+ anymore
Slow play but great course
This was not a desert course so the greens, fairways, and roughs were all grass and in great shape. Played the golf course in afternoon and barely got done by dark. Play was in the 4:30 range.
solid course
you can pretty much count on the wigwam courses being in decent to excellent shape and well run. this round did not disappoint. . we will be back
