Pacific Palms Delight
The course was in great shape. It was nice to see them working hard to keep the course looking sweet! Pace of play was great, finishing in just under 4 hours. Greens we in good condition. Bunkers were a little hard, but that was probably due to the recent rains.
Maintenance is Necessary
Tee boxes and bunkers needs serious improvements. Uneven/bare tee boxes has always been a issue. Hardly any sand in the bunkers. For what they're charging for greens fees, fundamental maintenance should enforced. It's still one of the favorite courses to play but they're elite status is exponentially slipping to mediocre. Since there's such a demand these days, the supply can get away with mediocrity. It's sad the LPGA Kia tournament has never returned and rightfully so. I typically refuse to play 3 star or less courses but Industry hills (Ike/Babe) is approaching there in record time.
Concrete would be more forgiving: bad bunkers.
I used to love this course but it's headed downhill. The bunkers are harder than concrete which with firm and fast greens is near unplayable. Start the day on the range (kidding) you'll hit golf balls that feel like your hitting a hockey puck and it will leave an impression on your clubs that take a few weeks of scrubbing to get off. Course layout is good, fairways are decent but won't hold, and god forbid you find yourself in a sandless concrete bunker with a short sided pin. Aim for the cart path as you'll have a better chance generating spin off of that then the bunkers.
Babe course
Course was in decent condition, bunkers need sand. Like playing off concrete, just pick up your ball. Some area’s need attention, muddy unplayable zones. Was a good day thou and will be back. Need to address range, never seen it in a poorer state. Cones for flags? Getting a lil ghetto for my liking.
Pace of play was brutal
I really love this course and have played Ike a ton of times. The pace of play was brutal and we weren’t even able to finish. Tee’d off at 12:20 and was only on hole 14 at 4pm. Part of the issue in my opinion is the holes they have as cart path are holes that require a good bit of walking. This causes a massive bottle neck and a lot of waiting to tee off.
Terrible experience
I used to really enjoy playing here their lack of concern for a piece of play and a five hour and 10 minute round on a Tuesday in the winter is ridiculous. I hope to remember this experience and not return.
SLOW
There’s a great golf course that cares nothing about improving pace of play and it’s very frustrating to go play golf in the winter on a Tuesday and take five hours. I hope I can remind myself in six months when I wanna go back and I forget about this experience
Fix your sand traps
Great layout, but take some of your profits & fix the fringe & the traps. Traps were embarrasing
Fix your bunkers
All bunkers are unplayable as hard as the cart path, for $100 you should do better!!
Course conditions
Played the course a few times over the years, and I was pleasantly surprised on the quality of the course.. Though I would point out there are 3 major problems i would like to see addressed. 1st 1 is stop watering so much during the winter months. 2nd do some major work in the sand traps , they are supposed to be sand traps not hard pan dirt traps. Lastly, roll the greens more often and tell your superintendent not to put the cups on knobs and slopes as this slows up play.
Excellent
The course was an amazing experience this most recent time out. I have played Ike half a dozen times before, but this round stands out.
Working backwards, the greens were in excellent shape, fast, and provided a real challenge with pin placements.
Fairways were well groomed and I had zero issues or concerns.
Tee boxes were top notch.
Course played long and true.
Poor condition
Course conditions severely degraded. Tee boxes devoid of grass, hard packed dirt. Fairways are dried out, brown dirt that’s was half sprayed with green dye. Cart staff has ego attitude power tripping over his control of cart assignments
Smooth and fast green
I always enjoy to play on Ike course at industry Hills. Fairway and green are exceptional. Good pace of play. Tee off at 145PM and finished 14 holes at 5PM.
