Starter, Pace of Play
"I've been playing both Ike and Babe for many years. Our group of three had to join a single player, which was no problem for us. However, the starter told us that we had to share the cart with the single golfer who joined us.
I’ve played many golf courses, both good and bad, and this was the first time I had to ride with someone I just met at the first tee. It was frustrating for both us and the single golfer, but what could we do?
To make matters worse, the group in front of us was extremely slow, almost two holes behind. A marshal showed up once and told them to speed up, but nothing changed.
Additionally, every hole displayed a message saying it was cart path only due to the conditions, instead of informing us that it was a cart path only day from the start.
This will probably be our last round at this beautiful, historic course."
Needs someone more efficient to manage it!
We had to wait on every hole. The couple I played with had to quit after 14 holes. The green fees went up the service especially the pace of play should be good.
Everything was great will definitely come back to try the Ike course next time. My only issue and it is more of a golf now issue is that the greens were sanded and I did not see any type of communication when I booked it. It was my first time playing there and I probably would have waited another week or two.
Awesome round
I had a couple putts in some bad pitch marks from previous players which really did move my line, nothing we could do but wait for it to cure. Course is always in great condition, love playing here!
Horrible experience
To start, our tee time was backed up 30 minutes, with the pace of play being 5+ hours, bringing the total time spent nearly 6 hours. They also require everyone to share a cart, even as a single. Meaning you need to track down the other single who checked in first and load your bags onto their cart. Even if it's only two singles for the round, they will make you sit together ("course policy").
Always a challenge
Love Ike course. If you want to be challenged play Ike. Layout and greens will keep you on your toes.
Shout out to the Marshal that was able to retrieve my wedge after I accidentally left it behind on the 9th hole. Thank you!!!
NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART OR FEW OF GOLF BALLS
Had a 1220pm tee time on a weekday that ended up taking 5 1/2 hours (course needs a marshall- badly). The staff was actually chill today and seemed like they were in a good mood which doesn't seem to usually be the case on weekends. Despite the course having a lot of muddy spots and minimal sand in its bunkers (felt like a cart path most of the time), the track is one of the best and most challenging in all of California. With it's changing elevations, undulating and uneven fairways, large, sloping, and lightning quick greens, this course is more for the experienced golf aficionado rather than the typical resort-style player. While there are plenty of putting and chipping areas to prepare for your game (when they're open), be prepared to potentially start your round without practicing some of your longer clubs as the driving range maxes out at 230yds.
Despite its shortcomings, it is still a course I would encourage the experienced golfer to take on given the opportunity.
Pin placement on a Saturday
Most of the flags were tucked in the back and not conducive to faster play, especially when a twosome is following a foresome, that is following a mini-tournament with some guy on a microphone giving commentary like he’s David Fahearty. We ended up 58 minutes behind pace of play according to the cart. Thank goodness for the drink cart woman who kept our spirit (and spirits) up!
had fun
either courses was great. pace was just perfect, never really got some ones back or followed close. if only weather was like yesterday we will try to come every week. had so much fun, next time we will bring my friends with it, make 4 some for sure. thanks for let us having no stress just full of smile. hope next time will be the same!
