The Resort at Pelican Hill

About The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Resort at Pelican Hill is one of SoCal's trendiest getaways, whether it's for golf or to unwind. The resort takes inspiration from the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Each one-story bungalow guest room or suite features its own limestone fireplace, private terrace and marble bath. The 2- to 4-bedroom villas are secluded within their own gated community. Guests can lounge at the Coliseum pool and spa or shuttle to the Crystal Cove beach. Tom Fazio's North and South courses both kiss the Pacific Ocean with outstanding views throughout the round. Six restaurants will tempt your appetite.Facts

The Par 3 3rd. Photo submitted by acontinuouslean on 02/12/2018

Disappointing Conditions
I played the South Course for the first time this year, and loved it. I was anxious to try the North Course, but have to admit that I was disappointed. The tees, particularly on the par 3's, were beat up. There was minimal sand in the greenside bunkers, and the greens were bumpy. Considering the greens fees are normally over $400, I was surprised by the conditions. It happened to be unusually windy, and it made the course, and particularly the greens, very difficult. And speaking of the greens, since half of the holes run towards the ocean, and the other holes run away from the ocean, the pace on the greens was extremely different whether you were putting towards the ocean or away from it. The greens are mostly elevated, with tons of tiers and undulations. Putting was extremely difficult, and the greens were effectively 1/8 of their actual size, since if you weren't on the correct side and/or level, you could easily 4 putt, let alone 3 putt.
good but no good
It's not as touching as I expected. Two beginners in the front team and four noisy Chinese in front of them. I hate slow play
Great place
Was able to get on @3:05 for $150, got all 18 in , Everyone was nice, range balls and water was provided. Will play there again.

Nice Weather
Very good pace today. Greens were nice and views were enjoyable.
Paying for the views
If you are looking for epic views this course has them! I was surprised at the condition of the course however. Specifically the greens. I was surprised with the irregularities and the amount the length of the greens which made roles worse and less true. I was told the were a 10-11 but felt otherwise. I very much enjoyed the course design and layout but found a many holes felt similar straight with fairway bunkers at 250 and green side bunkers with a few signature holes with more character.
Great course
Everything was awesome. Back uphill holes were hard
