The Resort at Pelican Hill

About The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Resort at Pelican Hill is one of SoCal's trendiest getaways, whether it's for golf or to unwind. The resort takes inspiration from the 16th century Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Each one-story bungalow guest room or suite features its own limestone fireplace, private terrace and marble bath. The 2- to 4-bedroom villas are secluded within their own gated community. Guests can lounge at the Coliseum pool and spa or shuttle to the Crystal Cove beach. Tom Fazio's North and South courses both kiss the Pacific Ocean with outstanding views throughout the round. Six restaurants will tempt your appetite.Facts

Great course
First time playing the North course and thoroughly enjoyed it. The course was in great shape an the weather along the coast was perfect. Played from the 6500 yard blue tees and felt the course was both fair and challenging at the same time. Landing areas are actually very wide but anything off the fairway is thick bushes and drop offs. Greens held very well and putted true.
A very frustrating experience
There was a fivesome of beginner golfers in front of us for the front nine. Two adults and three children ages about 8 years old, and it was a terrible experience.
Pelican Hill North
Unique layout. Course gets a lot of play so the tee boxes were a bit rough. Overall a nice round. Of golf.
5 star course 1 star staff
Everything to do with the actual golf at Pelican Hill is absolutely incredible. Top notch. 5 stars. Views, layout, difficulty, condition, etc.
However, the staff were extremely unfriendly and unkind. You'd expect great (or at least decent) service at a place with this price tag and their normal clientele, but everyone interaction I had was surprisingly rude (other than the nice kid who cleaned my clubs after the round.
Definitely worth playing, but whoever manages the staff is either setting a bad example or unaware of how their employees are behaving towards paying customers.

First time playing and it had somewhat country club feel
One in awhile experience for me. Staff is friendly and locker rooms are nice. Self parking is a bit if a carry if you do not valet. Price tag for the course is a bit high and they could work on maintenance around the fairways. Sort of expected a bit more for the amount paid. You will have to share a cart as a single. Some of the deep rough is extremely difficult and pretty much lost if it goes in the deep grass that may need a bit of a cut. Practice putting greens were very small and range was very basic but good balls to practice with. It was fun for first time but hope to see better amentities at other must play courses in my lifetime.
Overpriced
While the scenery at Pelican Hill Golf Course is undoubtedly breathtaking, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. The staff was pleasant, but the course layout is unremarkable. Unfortunately, the condition of the course does not justify the $500 price tag. The greens appear to be painted, and the bunkers are in terrible shape—hard, compact, and seemingly untouched for a long time, with the only white sand visible near the clubhouse. I won’t be returning and would recommend spending your money at a better-maintained course elsewhere.
Great course, but
There was no water on the course except for the beverage cart. She did not visit us for 3 hours. My wife got very thirsty. It was in the high 80s.
I love the course, She hated it. Lots of uneven lies and barranca.
Ocean view
This is one of the best courses that I have played in the last few years. I love the layout and the fact that you could see the ocean from literally every hole on the course I will be back and I would encourage anyone that has not played this course to play it. It is well worth the money.
