Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
About Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
Somewhat overshadowed by Sawgrass, this classic inn and resort predates it by several decades. Two charming golf courses have benefited from the design expertise of local resident and experienced architect Bobby Weed, and the new Lodge recently increased the resort's accommodations complement by several dozen rooms. Ponte Vedra Inn & Club should be near the top of the list for visitors seeking a sense of Old Florida.Facts

Give it a miss this week
Played today and have always enjoyed playing here as the course is good and the staff are very friendly and efficient but, we arrived to find that the course had been over seeded and it was cart paths only and temporary tees on all holes, some of which you couldn't play off as they were drenched in water and muddy and slippery as well as making the course a lot shorter. The grass on the fairways was very long and we had to keep dodging the sprinklers so couldn't get to our ball at times. If we had been warned we would have taken a raincheck and booked in a couple of weeks when the course had recovered but as we had pre paid we would probably have lost our money. As previously mentioned it's a nice course to play and I would recommend you give it a go but not for a couple of weeks until it recovers from the overseeing.
Unplayable
I have played this course before and enjoyed it very much. Right now it is UNPLAYABLE.
Temporary Tee Boxes, many muddy and no grass. Fairways reseeded and nice, but they are watering so they are marshes, and the greens have no grass...mostly sand and weeds. the rough and grass around the greens is mostly dead grass and crabgrass. perhaps the worst shape of any course I have seen in years. very disappointing.
Cart path only due to reseeding, was not aware of this. Horrible make shift tee boxes, sprinklers running, greens hard as a glass. This used to be a nice course, sure has gone downhill.
Good value
Free range balls, fun layout. Hole 10 has maintenance, is temporary a par 3. Other than that it was a lot of fun. Some greens have bad spots, but not too bad.
Stay Away
It is an absolute shame what a massacre the new owners have done to this course. Once one of the best courses in the area, now worse than the municipal. Range is a dirt pile, greens are compacted sand & fairways are pure weeds.
WORST GOLFING EXPERIENCE EVER!!
Save your money and play somewhere else. Tee boxes were in better shape than the greens. Greens had rough patches, grooves and weeds. The whole course looks as though it hasn't been mowed in over a month, between me and my friend we lost a dozen balls and not in the water or woods but just off the fairway. Fairways and roughs had major FIRE ANT hills all over. I happened to accidently stepped on one and now my legs are swollen and itching with at least 15 bites. This could be a nice course if somebody maintained it. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
Worst Course In Manatee
One of the worst courses in Manatee/Sarasota County by far. Save your money and spend it anywhere but here. The Tee boxes, Fairways, Rough, and Greens are all in really bad condition. Everything is soaked and muddy, cart path only. Due to being cart path only and longer pace of play, the ranger will tell you to pick up the pace of play when cart path is nowhere near the fairway. Do yourself a favor and do not play at this unmaintained course.
Greens and tee box’s are baddd
This course should be in much better shape. Tee box’s and greens are bad shape for a country clib
Getting worse
Used to be such a great course. It has a great layout. I don’t understand why the greens are so bad. Even a basic maintenance crew should be able to keep them better than what they are.
For a country club
Tee boxes are full of weeds and greens are in bad shape.
Good Layout, Could Be In Better Shape
The course is located inside a very nice, gated community. The layout of the course is excellent and from what I hear was one of the premier courses in the area in its prime days. The course was playable, so if you don't mind some issues here and there, you can enjoy a nice round of golf here. Just make sure you are paying a reasonable price to play this track.
Golf Course is Dead
First time golfing this course and it’s sad when you are loosing balls - on the fairway. Watch it come down, with 3 people watching as well, and still lost so many balls due to the fiarways being way overgrown. The greens were super dead and patchy.. bumpy putts. Just overall a course in need of some serious love. The layout is great - just terrible conditions.
Not great
The staff was courteous, however the greens were atrocious. A lot of potential for this course, however I can't get over how poor the greens were, and im not talking about recently punched. The greens were borderline un-puttable, patches of weeds, no grass or over grown areas.
Greens in tough shape
Most of the tees and fairways are In decent shape, but the greens are in really bad shape. Also much of the rough needs to be cut.
What Happened?!
This course has so much potential and used to play really well. Place is a goat farm now, 36 different types of weeds cover the fairways and hazards are over grown. Greens were egregiously weeded and under repair. Probably not going back even if it’s free or until I hear the place has improved.
