Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort

We were behind a 5-some that slowed everything down. When we called the pro shop, they said they let 5-some’s play. Never heard of this. Thats the only thing negative - otherwise it was great golfing.

Course was in good condition. Greens had been over seeded so they were shaggy and slow.

Thought the course was in great shape for early spring. Greens were spot free but just a touch slow. That is the only complaint I have but as the day got hotter they sped up a little bit. Beautiful course otherwise.

Because of recent rains it was cart path in the rough which slowed down play. But course was in great shape, Greens were slower than the week before which took some adjustment. Each hole has a unique challenge. 5 par 3s that are very short but are incredibly challenging for birdies as well as double bogeys.

I think Links is a fun course to play with some beautiful holes on the bay. Good test. Reasonably good shape for a resort course. Nice staff in pro shop. No amenities to speak of for food, drinks, etc. Shabby actually.

Wishes:

Bunkers that are not like concrete.

Drainage for areas that are always wet.

Tee boxes that are flat.

And a pro shop/halfway house with improved menu and seating

The scenery at this course is top notch and created a very enjoyable experience. The way I would describe the course is that they put a golf course where there wasn't enough room for one. The holes were narrow and not very interesting besides the views. But everything was in good shape, and for the price I thought like the value was accurate. I just wouldn't go back for the golf only.

We played on a damp day and had the place to ourselves. The layout is great and the conditions were very solid. We greatly enjoyed the round and look forward to returning.

Overseed greens are good but slow. The course was in good shape.

It was cart path only so got a nice walk in

Perhaps more installed drainage would make the course even more enjoyable.

Most of the bunkers are very firm

You can have a good time playing golf here. Just don’t have high expectations. Pretty much all aspects of the course were average. Friendly staff, FYI, no towels or water anywhere on the course. Bring your own or pay for it. Sand was mediocre, at best. Fairways in OK condition. Greens in good condition. Pace of play was slow; a bit over 4.5 hours.

If it rains the day before, check to see if the range is open. We had rain the night before (not that much, in my opinion), and it was closed. Also, the course was still very wet with carts on path. I found this surprising because my previous experiences in Florida led me to believe courses there drain well. Not this one.

Lots of traffic noise on the back nine, and I do mean “lots”. I’m surprised others have not mentioned this.

Again, as long as your expectations are not high, you can play a fund and have fun.
