Coming along
First time playing since the refurbishment. It's coming along nicely. Fairways were in great condition and tee boxes looked amazing. Greens were firm and the grass on the collars were dry and thin. Probably just needs time and water. As long as they keep it up and maintain it, this is a great course. I got a hot deal for around $60 and used some coupons to make it cheaper which made it a great deal for the area. The rack rate of $90+ is probably not worth it.
Jekyll Pine Lakes
Course is in fantastic condition following renovation
Severely downgraded
Have golfed here at Jekyll island many times over the years and on all the courses available. This year Indian Mounds is in very bad shape. Overall the fairways are ok however the traps are not maintained and the greens are horrendous. Frankly, they should pay us to play there.
Needing lots of work.
Too SLOW
I was a single player with a T-time. I joined the twosome behind me on hole number three. We later teamed up with one player in a group of three in front of me. The other two players in that group were so frustrated with the pace of play and they quit after nine holes. Even after calling the clubhouse and a marshal coming out, it was no help. We had a total of 4 players combined from three different t-time groups and it took 5 hours and 20 minutes to play 17 holes. A storm came and we didn’t get to play number 18. That is insane. Managing the pace of play and putting too many golfers on the course is irresponsible and inconsiderate. I won’t go back.
Course Features
Aside from the poorly kept greens, I loved the course
Pine Lakes on Jekyll Island
The course is in excellent condition. With the Golf Now discount, it is an excellent value.
Horrible Condition
Greens were full of weeds, not burmuda grass. Many of the greens had large bare spots with no grass or weeds. The cart paths had giant potholes & if near tee or green when trying to avoid one the GPS would stop the cart. The driving range was overpriced at $7.50 for a small bucket of balls & required to hit from a mat & not real grass. I've played better conditions at course costing less than $20 per tee time.
Really?
The putting green is tiny & difficult to find a 5 foot putt that will have 100% grass. The greens on the course were horrible! Multiple bare spots on every green & it looked like more weeds than grass.
The cart paths had more potholes than anyone could avoid. I've played public courses in cow pastures that were in better shape than this course!!!
Conditions atrocious
The greens were horrible, fairways as bad, not worth the price. Even charged a rider fee for spouses. Not playing here again.
Tourist golf round
We enjoyed the round. Good condition. Good for the average golfer. Fairways are wide enough, bunkers in good shape, greens fair and quick and carts had GPS. Bunkers well placed but not onerous.
The only negative is what I consider slow pace. It took 4 hours 40 minutes and we teed off at 9:40 instead of 9:20. Not horrible but we waited on virtually every hole. ‘
Lunch was good in the restaurant after the round.
Greens have some bald spots and the tee boxes need some love but everything else was in real good shape!
Alligators
I like the fact that there were alligators to be seen on the course. I did see one, although it was only the head sticking out of the water, but it was still cool to see.
Good deal for resort golf
Course was in good shape and staff was very friendly. For a Sunday afternoon the course was empty, we were a 2 some and played in 3 hours.
