Goat ranch
I was desperate to play Friday and checked out tee times in the app. Indian Mound sounded reasonable in terms of price and tee time. Showed up and when I got to the putting green I noticed it was in poor condition. And it was probably the best green I saw. I was in the first group, so we played fast, and the lay out is nice. It would be worth it after the redo the greens. Supposedly gonna do that when the new course opens. Won’t come back until they fix the issue and that won’t be for more than a year. They could lower the green fees from $75 but they haven’t.
Greens are terrible.
The greens on this course are terrible. Perhaps the worst I've ever played. One of their other courses is being renovated and another recently so. I have to assume this one is on the list. Just know coming in what to expect or ask when you make your reservations.
Nice layout
Greens were atrocious. Dead spots and weeds everywhere. Course layout is nice, fairways are in good shape and wild life is plentiful. Hard to play competitive golf with greens that bad. Probably worth $30-$40/round for beach golf, not 75
Good Course- BRING BUG SPRAY
overall the course was in very good shape, except the greens which is why i give a 4/5 rating.
the greens were bermuda (i think) and they had weeds all over them. there is another course that is part of the jekyll island courses and even uses the same starting shed and you could see their greens and they didnt have the same weeds in their greens, it was like putting after an areation every hole. you would think the greens are on the same spray schedule but maybe since the other course is a little bit more money they can do more for those greens.
also bring bug spray bc the biting flies on jeykll are no joke
Not worth it
The course was in the worst shape of any course I’ve ever played. I believe that due to the new construction of great dunes as well as the renovation in 2022 of Pine Lakes, which is fantastic. I love that course. They have completely neglected Indian amount. Would never play it again.
Greens are Gone
Had a nice time with a buddy on a hot Sunday afternoon. Pro shop staff was nice but NO ICE for the carts was a little disappointing.
Fairways were in good shape, tee boxes could use a refresher for sure, but the greens were in terrible shape. Many greens had a weed invasion that was simply cut down but not remediated appropriately. Result was choppy greens that made realistic (normal) putting impossible. I won’t play that course again until I know the greens have been replaced.
Good Course
It’s a good course to play. The real issue is the greens. Once those are proper then the course would be a lot better.
Vast potential unrealized
A beautiful course with vast potential. The greens might be the worst I’ve ever played. Overridden with crab grass that’s been mowed to green length. Every putt was like dropping the ball in the Plinio game on the Price is Right. If you say three Hail Marys and make a sacrifice to the gods, your putt might hold the line you intended. Otherwise, your ball bounces to and fro like a tilted pinball machine. Don’t know how they’d fix it without completely killing the greens and reseeding or resodding. It’s a shame they’re on the maintenance struggle bus. They’ve let it go and I don’t think they can get it back. Also the sand is so fluffy it’s like hitting out of whipped cream. And, they don’t allow you to bring your own cooler, which would be fine if they provided cold water periodically along the course. In the 98 degrees with 80% humidity, they also made the questionable decision to disallow us from buying ice for the cart cooler (which they posted as a $4 charge) because they said the demand for ice was too high. Hmm? Wonder why? Other than that it was perfect. ;)
Still Jekyll Golf
Heard Indian Mounds had some issues and yes, they do. Having a problem with bald spots on greens and weeds on the greens. Really not any different than if they recently aerated the greens. Line up your putt and stay true to your read. It is still Jekyll Golf! Friendliest place this side of Disneyland and near perfect fairways. Furthermore, you know they will fix what needs fixing. Stay the course and have faith!
Rude and Overpriced
The staff was rude and the course was nowhere near the $100+ and the hour and a half drive that went into playing it. Would not recommend to anybody.
Good Review.
Good course good price. The greens on Indian mound needed some TLC.
Indian mound course
Fairways, bunkers were excellent condition. However most tee boxes and just about all greens were in horrendous conditions. Not worth the price to play in my opinion but the staff was excellent and very nice. Wish someone form the clubhouse would have warned me about the greens before we got out there but it is what it is.
Good bones, lack of maintenace
The greens were in horrible shape, but everything else was worth the money. Don’t know how that’s possible. Starter was also very rude for no reason.
Course review
Great staff and it's a good course. I feel that it's a bit overpriced considering the course conditions. Overall, it's a nice course and I would play it again if im ever around the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to play.
Poooor greens
Even at a reduced rate l didn't think the course was worth what l paid.
