improving
This course is close to my house ive played here a lot they are really making vast improvements under new ownership. Keep up the good work
Challenging but playable.
Tanglewood has sloped fairways and raised greens and many elevation changes. Set in rolling hills the beauty of the course also makes it a challenge. Ruff is not bad and ball is playable from almost everywhere it may end up. Enjoyed the course would play again.
Many Improvements
I played Tanglewood in the early 90 's and the course was in bad shape. This time was the course was in much better shape, the greens were still too wet and showing signs of minor desease. The sand traps were maintained and very playable. It's a challenging course and very fun to play. A word of warning thou, don't be right with your drives!
A good test
First time playing this course and I was pleased with the round. This course has some challenging holes but plays very fair. The greens were fast and in great shape. Fairways and tee boxes were nothing special but got the job done. Do yourself a favor and go to the course website and print out the hole description and tips. These really helped out as there were many blind shots on the course. A bit of a haul from Louisville but one I will likely make again.
Terrrible tee boxes
Overall, had a great time playing even though it was 90 degrees plus. I played as a single so I got through the course in less than 3 hours. The tee boxes were not in good shape and needed to be cut.
A fun challenge
Course has great combination of length, water and hilly fairways. Greens would be better if people would repair their ball marks. New cart s are great. Staff makes you fell welcome.
Fantastic
Fantastic course. A few of the greens and fairways are a bit chewed up, but most of the course is fabulous. I played on a Monday at 1:30 and nobody was on the course. I play relatively quickly, and I finished 18 in 2 hours flat. I shot an 87 on the par 72 and was extremely happy with that. The course is challenging, but also very forgiving on most holes.
Hidden treasure
This course is well worth the drive. The narrow fairways are challenging and straight shots rewarded. Some of the views from this rural location are beautiful. The staff is so nice and down to earth. It is one of my favorite places to play!
A good time
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The course is in good shape.
Very narrow fairways
Needs mowing. Balls hit into the fairway were hard to find
Great Course No One Knows About
I have played out at Tanglewood 5 times this year. It is a great value and provides something for every golfer. There are a couple of holes that even from the tips if you can crush a 300+ yard drive you can to the green in 1 on a par 4. There are holes protected by water on the boundaries and in front of the green, same with bunkers. There are par 5's that are reachable in 2 and some that aren't. Tough par 3's that are 200+ yards and then also some holes where you can shank a drive into the next fairway over and recover for potential birdies and pars. Overall the condition, the price, and the pace of 18 make it awesome. The only drawback is that it is a 30 minute drive to a hour depending where you are coming from in Louisville to get there. It is all the way out in Taylorsville next to T-Ville lake.
Good value
Staff is great, greens are great, fairways are OK, good value for the cost.
Good course!
The back 9 was much more challenging than the front 9. Good course, had a fun day!
Great value
The conditions of the greens and tee boxes are much better than any comparable priced courses in the louisville area. I'll play again.
Friday round
Course is in the best shape I've ever seen it and I remember it from when it was grudge, they are really working on the course, fairways and the greens have always been some of the best, highly recommend it
Tricked up & challenging , fair test
Played with the pro & some employees so I had some great local knowledge. 1st time playing the course you would be hard pressed to know where to hit your tee shot on most holes. Extreme sloping fairways and side hill lies to very solid conditioned putting surfaces. Can't beat it for the price & the shape it's in since new owners took over.
Improvement amazing
The improvements over the last few months are amazing. The greens were superb. The fairway grass was longer to get it to grow, and there were some areas of clover, but it played well. The young guy at the pro shop was very cordial. I am glad to see this course make such a turnaround.
Great Shape, Dramatically Improved
Staff is really doing a great job. Looks better than ever. Greens are in perfect shape and even the fairway has filled in a lot from what it was just a year ago. It really is a nice course now. Played in their Friday night 9 hole open scramble, didn't win anything but it was fun.
Excellent value!
First time to play here and I will definitely be coming back. The greens are in great shape. Not fast, but they were wet and a little hairy (there's a joke here). There weren't many groups out so the pace was fine. Such a great course for the money. Definitely better than the Metro Parks courses.
Tanglewood
Course is in excellent condition. Very challenging course for a beginner. Lots of slopes and lost balls. Staff is doing an excellent job.
