About Shanty Creek
The 5,000 acres of Shanty Creek Resorts are spread among three villages - Cedar River, Schuss and Summit, each with at least one golf course, restaurant and accommodations galore. The Summit is arguably home base with the Lakeview Lodge housing the Lakeview Restaurant, the spa and the Legend and Summit golf courses. The resort added the Hawk's Eye course and accommodations across the street in 2021.Facts

Greens were aerated last week!!
I have played Hawkseye each year since it opened. Now I've had two very bad experiences in a row at this place. Called course to book and absolutely no mention from them that greens had been aerated just two days before......BIG MISTAKE (no other courses in Traverse/Bellaire/Charleviox/Kalkaska area had been aerated except the Chief and I did find out Chief was aerated before even considering to play it the next day). It will now take much cajoling from my golfing partners to ever consider playing this course again. Course from tee to green was playable and in average shape but the greens weren't even close to being playable.....and that's half the game. Also appeared that a ladies league were put ahead of us teeing off on the 10th to play nine (we caught up to them on the 11th) so the pace on the back nine was extremely slow on a Thursday afternoon well after Labor Day. Ridiculous.
Beautiful setting, very scenic, good shape.
Very nice course. Located in area of 4 championship courses and 2 other very nice ones.
A little long from the blues with most par 4s at 420, unless you drive 240+.
On your Northern Michigan play list
This is a course you should not miss if playing in Northern Michigan. Beautiful views and a really nice layout.
Amazing views and excellent condition
The course was in perfect condition from tee to green. Some of the elevated views were breath taking. A must for our trip every year.
We love this course.
We played this course on a beautiful cool day in Sept. They were aerating the front nine, so we had to do the back nine twice. It was no problem and actually quite enjoyable. The bag boy and the starter/manager were both so pleasant and helpful. They made our visit to this course a great experience. We can't wait to golf this course again. I can't think of anything we disliked about it.
Spectacular Layout
Course was in good condition although detailed trimming around tees and greens was somewhat lacking.
Nice course
Very nice course that was in excellent condition. Pace of play was also excellent
first time at shanty creek. wonderful experience. great golf
My first visit to the Shanty Creek Resorts. Not sure why it took me so long to visit but I will be back and I will recommend this resort to all of my family and friends. I played the Legend, awesome, and the Schuss Mountain course, very nice. The staff was wonderful, pleasant and helpful. I checked out Cedar River and that will be a must on my next visit.
very very nice to play
did not play this course last year but got the chance this year and booked it.
beautiful course, great shape
This is a must play beautiful Northern Michigan golf course with breath taking views provided by multiple elevation changes.
The nicest greens at Shanty Creek
Overall this was a nice course. Be prepared to play some severe dog legs. 10 of the 18 holes are dog leg right or left holes. It was very playable and the greens were exceptional.
Enjoyed the layout and views on the golf course very much.
We played after a heavy rain, but the course handled the water very well. The greens took quite a beating and were slow due to their soggy condition, but were true. Pace of play was a little slow due to a scramble outing, but once that was completed, we moved at a nice pace. We learned a lot about shot placement and look forward to playing this course again. The rough on the back nine was a little too long for my liking and there were a few spots that got burned from fertilizer applications. Staff were friendly and accommodating. It was a very enjoyable and challenging round of golf, especially for the price.
Outstanding course, staff and service
One of my favorite courses in the U.S. Fair but challenging. Outstanding price for afternoon play.
Very nice layout.
The layout was very good, all holes carved out of teh bush so you didn't see other golfers. The only complaint was not enough visits from the cart girl.
One of my favorite Northern Michigan courses
One of my favorite Northern Michigan courses. Always in great shape and some awesome holes.
Great value, good course for new players
We had a great time from drop off thru pro shop to the finish.
Great Course
Arnold Palmer Design was beautiful and very challenging. Played the blue tees which made for a more challenging round (the black tees were a little beyond my talent). Would recommend this course to anyone looking for pretty scenery and good golf
Fabulous course
Best course my husband and I have played in a long time. Good value through Golf Now. Course is beautiful and in pristine condition.
Beautiful course! Would definitly go back.
Very very nice. Picturesque and challenging. A must play.
This course is in absolutely terrible condition. It looks as if it has been going down hill for several years.
From tee box, to fairways, to greens, this course is one of the poorest courses I have ever played. The fairways are mostly dead. The tee boxes have been dead for years and taken over by weeds. The greens have severe areas of snow mold kill off.
