Fabulous course
Course conditions were terrific. Staff was great. Perfect weather no push & no rush, just steady golf. Course is long from the whites. Still a fun challenge, but tiring. Due to length from the white tees, it required a lot of up and downs to score good.
Who cared about score when the course conditions are great, along with a cool day (65-70 degrees) and sunney, and a great buy from golfnow.
Course is worth the regular rate. Will play every time I come to Northern Mich. Too early in the season for the food and beverage. No beverage cart midweek this early in season. Couldn"t blame them hardly any paly.
A course that I would recomend to friends.
The course itself is very well maintained, however
I was a little disappointed in the golf carts. They
where not very smooth and seem to lack the power
to navigate the hilly course. Over all we had a pleasant outing and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Good Time!
Very nice course. Great. Views
Highly recommended, Always a challenge.
Will play again.
First time - will be back
Typical Palmer, sloped fairways, not as narrow as described. My wife also enjoyed it, thought the red tees are very fair.
great day
tough but fair, great condition, terrific value ,would go back many times, its that type of course
The legend
Great course that has great views and some fun holes to play. Would highly recommend this course to anyone playing in the northern Michigan area

This course is one of the value gems Up North. The course is well taken care of; challenging but playable for high handicappers. Never crowded -- don't know why. Very nice course that I would make my "home course" if just a little closer to - home!
The Hawks Eye Is Second To None
When most area courses are opening up at full summer prices, Hawks Eye golf course continues to remember that golf is for everyone and offers great spring and fall rates that allow the average person to experience one of the best courses in northern michigan. We drove 35 miles to get to this course and its worth every mile. Will golf again. Check out their 2 for 1 wednesday specials at Hawks Eye Golf course. Thanks again Hawks Eye
Just a beautiful example of northern the Michigan golf experience.
I have played Cedar quite a few times and always walk of #18 sad that the round is over. This is such an entertaining course with a wonderful mix of holes, pleasing to the eye with the designer's usual risk, reward opportunities. Try to schedule during the fall color change for a really special experience. It is true, however, that if there is a criticism is will probably be with the course condition but overall and considering the very fair green fees. This is an outstanding value
Great course
Beautiful course. Well maintained. Scenic. Played this course a few times before and always enjoyable. This time, however, back nine was brutally slow. Ranger went out two or three times, but no avail. 3 hr back nine. Nice elevation changes.
Enjoyable & challenging
Very enjoyable course. Greens are beautiful and roll true.
Par 3's are tough! Played the Blue Tees and par 3's were 167, 190, 216, 216. They weren't much shorter if you went to the White tees. Nice elevation changes around the course. Overall I would definitely recommend this course. Challenging but fair.
Course was wet due to much recent rains. Scenic value of the course is great.
Stuck behind 2 sets of foursomes who did not play ready golf and were hitting from the wrong tees for their capabilities.
Basic Welll Maintained Resort Golf Course
The course is a good solid resort course; front nine flat and relatively uninteresting; back nine much more interesting with substantial elevation changes. Very well maintained.
In great shape 4.5 stars
Cedar River is one of my very favorite tracks in Northern MI. A fun course with short par 5's (back nine has 3 3's, 3 4's and 3 5's)....and while challenging it's scenic, very fair and there's more room between the trees than you think...with slopes that assist the ball to stay in bounds on at least one side of the fairway in most cases. At least 3 holes you have to play a few times to get the hang of them (5th hole, 13th hole and 18th holes at minimum) so first timers should "scout" these prior to play. The par 3 fourteenth is an absolute gem.. and as a topper a great patio to enjoy a beverage overlooking the finishing green. I'd play this course at least once a week if I lived near it.
Greens were aerated last week!!
I have played Hawkseye each year since it opened. Now I've had two very bad experiences in a row at this place. Called course to book and absolutely no mention from them that greens had been aerated just two days before......BIG MISTAKE (no other courses in Traverse/Bellaire/Charleviox/Kalkaska area had been aerated except the Chief and I did find out Chief was aerated before even considering to play it the next day). It will now take much cajoling from my golfing partners to ever consider playing this course again. Course from tee to green was playable and in average shape but the greens weren't even close to being playable.....and that's half the game. Also appeared that a ladies league were put ahead of us teeing off on the 10th to play nine (we caught up to them on the 11th) so the pace on the back nine was extremely slow on a Thursday afternoon well after Labor Day. Ridiculous.
Beautiful setting, very scenic, good shape.
Very nice course. Located in area of 4 championship courses and 2 other very nice ones.
A little long from the blues with most par 4s at 420, unless you drive 240+.
On your Northern Michigan play list
This is a course you should not miss if playing in Northern Michigan. Beautiful views and a really nice layout.
Amazing views and excellent condition
The course was in perfect condition from tee to green. Some of the elevated views were breath taking. A must for our trip every year.
We love this course.
We played this course on a beautiful cool day in Sept. They were aerating the front nine, so we had to do the back nine twice. It was no problem and actually quite enjoyable. The bag boy and the starter/manager were both so pleasant and helpful. They made our visit to this course a great experience. We can't wait to golf this course again. I can't think of anything we disliked about it.
Spectacular Layout
Course was in good condition although detailed trimming around tees and greens was somewhat lacking.
